Youth Program Coordinator

Overview

We Are Better Together Warren Daniel Hairston Project, Inc. (WAB2G) is a non-profit organization. founded by Ruth Rollins in 2017, after the murder of her son Danny Hairston and the incarceration of her second son. WAB2G engages and empowers those on both sides of gun violence in the peacemaking process and brings together the community families on both sides of homicide and incarceration to foster healing and unity in the community.

The Youth Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Operations and Youth Programs and another Youth Coordinator to deliver a variety of youth programs. This role is essential in supporting the development, implementation, and oversight of youth-focused initiatives that align with WAB2G's mission and objectives. The Youth Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Operations and Youth Programs.

Responsibilities:

Program Delivery:

• Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of youth programs.

• Facilitate workshops, activities, and events aimed at empowering youth and promoting healing and growth.

• Ensure programs are delivered effectively and in a trauma-informed manner.

Collaboration:

• Work alongside another Youth Coordinator to ensure cohesive and coordinated program delivery.

• Collaborate with other WAB2G staff and community partners to enhance program offerings.

• Participate in team meetings and contribute to program planning and evaluation.

Youth Engagement:

• Build and maintain positive relationships with program participants.

• Provide support and mentorship to youth, addressing their individual needs and concerns.

• Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all program participants.

Program Monitoring and Evaluation:

• Collect and analyze data to measure program outcomes and impact.

• Provide feedback and suggestions for program improvement based on participant feedback and evaluation results.

• Maintain accurate records and reports on program activities and outcomes.

Outreach and Recruitment:

• Assist in the recruitment of youth participants through outreach activities and partnerships with local schools and community organizations.

• Promote WAB2G youth programs through various channels, including social media, community events, and presentations.

Administrative Support:

• Assist with administrative tasks related to program delivery, including scheduling, materials preparation, and communication with participants.

• Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.

Essential Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Experience working with youth, particularly those affected by trauma and violence.

• Ability to facilitate workshops and activities in a dynamic and engaging manner.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with online platforms such as Zoom, social media, and Google Suite.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Understanding of trauma-informed care principles.

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 1-5 years of experience working with youth in a community-based setting.

• Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education, psychology, or a related field can be considered in lieu of experience
