About New Beginnings Family Academy

Opened in September 2002 offering grades K-3, New Beginnings Family Academy (“NBFA”) offers active and engaging learning experiences from Pre-K through 6th grade. NBFA is a tuition-free, public charter school proudly distinguished by:

Reports to: Chief Development and Communications Officer

Summary: The Development and Communications Officer must be committed to and advocate for

NBFA’s mission to provide students a meaningful, high-quality education through experience-based learning that helps develop essential social, emotional and critical-thinking skills. This gives all children a foundation to achieve their full potential at every stage of life.

A critical player on the Development and Communications team, the Development and Communications Officer places NBFA’s story externally to help frame the organization’s fundraising efforts. He/she brings this story to donors, donor prospects, prospective families and other key stakeholders. He/she is responsible for fulfillment/portfolio management and supporting events.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Operate all social media channels including Twitter, Facebook Instagram and You Tube, writing all content, creating graphics/videos, and monitoring NBFA’s brand online
  • Manage website structure, draft content and serve as a project manager for design and planning maintenance and refreshes.
  • Draft press releases and announcements to promote NBFA to donors and the community at large
  • Produce analytic reports to determine best practices and make recommendations to improve NBFA’s reach to key audiences.
  • Produce strategic content and materials (including videos, graphics, summary sheets) needed for donor and donor prospect engagement
  • Create video scripts, shoot footage and edit video for publication on YouTube and other video platforms.
  • Capture and draft story-telling moments that can be converted into multi-purpose marketing, branding and stewardship materials
  • Manage the donor portfolio including database upkeep and gift acknowledgments.
  • Co-draft, layout and coordinate donor solicitations. .
  • Support event planning and implementation efforts
  • Create materials and position advertisements to support enrollment efforts
  • Copy edit and proofreading, as needed.

Certification, Knowledge and Skills:

The Development and Communications Officer must:

1. Bachelor's degree or 3-5 years’ experience

2. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

3. Have sound and audience-conscious writing skills

4. Be able to plan, prioritize tasks and effectively manage time

5. Have strong computer skills and the ability to learn new programs

6. Graphic design programs (Photoshop, Indesign) and video editing experience (Premier Pro)
