Descripción

 Boch Center is seeking a Teen Support Manager for the 2024 City Spotlights Summer Leadership Program. The City Spotlights Summer Leadership Program is an arts-based youth employment program for 30 Boston resident teens. Teen Leaders participate in the six-week program to develop their capacities as leaders in their communities; develop their understanding and awareness of social change as it relates to issues impacting their community; develop original performance material inspired by their own experiences and conversations, which culminates in a Final Showcase; strengthen their college and career readiness; and develop and facilitate arts-based educational workshops about social change and empowerment for young people in community centers, libraries, and camps throughout Boston.


The Teen Support Manager will serve as the health and wellness manager of the teen employees and support the administration of the City Spotlights Leadership Program. This is a temporary/seasonal, full-time position. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Support Teen Leaders social and emotional growth as it pertains to their professional and artistic success in the program
  • Manage all issues pertaining to the social/emotional/behavioral health of Teen Leaders during the program, including assessment and triage for any social or emotional crises that arise with teen employees
  • Act as a resource and support for Education and program staff on issues pertaining to the social and emotional health of the Teen Leaders
  • Serve as a liaison to parents and guardians of Teen Leaders
  • Implement training for Education and All Staff as needed in the following areas: conflict resolution, behavior management, high risk assessment & safety planning
  • Manage the Staff Advising Team with Associate Director of Education, including training staff, running meetings, managing disciplinary protocols, managing documentation, etc.
  • Serve as a Staff Advisor to 6-9 Teen Leaders
  • Manage crisis management protocol for program staff and training staff to implement protocol successfully
  • Assist with supervising and managing teen employees while on site along with program staff
  • Assist with the development and facilitation of teen employee training during the first week of the program
  • Assist with program paperwork and administration
  • Facilitate post-program debriefs for program staff with Associate Director of Education
  • Support other areas of program management as needed


The ideal candidate should possess the following attributes and

experience:

  • Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Art Therapy or a related field. School Counseling degree preferred. (Candidates currently enrolled in a master’s-level program will also be considered.)
  • Experience triaging risk assessment, as well as safety planning, crisis management, conflict resolution, de-escalation, and behavior management & modification is required. Familiarity with Motivational Interviewing and Solutions Focused Therapy preferred.
  • Knowledge of mental health resources and community services and supports
  • Able to implement protocols, training and services on topics such as substance abuse, suicide prevention/ intervention, social/emotional skills, & behavior modification
  • Able to create and execute behavior agreements that facilitate Teen Leader’s professional and personal growth and success
  • Understanding and passion for working with a focus on anti-racist curriculum, social justice, gender inclusivity, and intersectionality
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Professional experience in a not-for-profit environment preferred
  • Experience or affinity for the performing arts a plus
  • Proven reputation as a self-starting, motivated professional
  • Ability to work with youth from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Impeccable interpersonal skills
  • Proven reliability & dependability
  • Technical proficiency with computer programs, including: Word, Excel, Outlook, Google
  • Common sense and a good sense of humor are a must


Schedule:

Temporary/Seasonal, full-time

Mid-June through late August (8-9 weeks)
