Descripción

Function: Assist Director of Finance and Administration in managing federal grants and related accounting functions.  Support the mission of the organization by providing grants and contracts management skills to oversee the full grant lifecycle, from application to approval and implementation. Serve as the point of contact for all issues relating to NASF awards, contracts, and federal compliance.


Location: Washington DC. Two days per week remote/three days in office. Occasional travel (3-4 times per year) may be required.


Responsibilities:

Grant Management

·      Oversee the full grant lifecycle, from application to approval and implementation

·     Manage a portfolio of federal grants to ensure timely and accurate payments and reporting. This includes awards for NASF and affiliated regional organizations

·      Support the financial management of grants (e.g. budget preparation, budget adjustments, expenditures, etc.) for the purpose of complying with all program and funding guidelines of awarding agency

·      Provide tools for documenting grant payments and expenditures

·      Prepare grant proposals in collaboration with program staff

·      Oversee grant timelines and deliverables including submission of federal interim reports

·      Collaborate with senior staff to negotiate, administer, and monitor grant contracts

Compliance

·      Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations governing federal grants

·      Develop and maintain policies and procedures that foster best practices for federal grants management

·      Pursue ongoing training to keep up to date with laws, regulations, and best practices

·      Ensure all required documents are accurate, submitted on time, and maintained in the appropriate award and contract files.   

·      Review and approve procurements to ensure compliance with NASF policy and federal requirements

General Accounting

·     Create journal entries and reconciliations for monthly award reimbursements

·      Handle other accounting duties as directed

·      Support preparation for the annual audit and annual dues

Relationships and Communications 

·      Build trusting working relationships with federal agency grants and agreements staff

·      Maintain frequent communications with all program staff responsible for grant-funded deliverables

·      Monitor accomplishments, understand the details, and know the people for all programs and projects funded by grants

Other

·     Interface with the Fiscal Specialist, Communications Director, Executive Director, and Committee Staff to ensure timely and accurate grant documentation and reporting

·      Provide support outside of job description as needed to assist other team members in a small office environment

·      Other duties as assigned


 Qualifications: 1 year of experience (coordinator) or 2-3 years of experience (manager) managing federal grants and accounting functions. Experience managing USDA grants is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.  Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.  Proven accounting knowledge, analytical thinking skills, and grants management skills.  Proficient in Quickbooks, Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel,, or other accounting software.  Must be able to prioritize work and contribute in a small office team environment. Knowledge of 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance and/or the Federal Acquisition Regulation. Experience with small non-profit organizations is a plus.
