Together for Girls works in over 20 countries around the world and combines state of the art data with powerful advocacy to end violence against children and adolescents, especially sexual violence. We are a nimble and highly impactful team that continues to grow and evolve. We work with a broad range of organizations, researchers, and advocates to drive change. 

In 2022, Together for Girls launched and continues to host the Brave Movement, a global advocacy movement of survivors and allies working to end childhood sexual violence. 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and highly organized Development Officer to join our team. This role will be instrumental in supporting our fundraising efforts by leading on prospect research, supporting the team to develop compelling funding proposals and donor engagement opportunities, and managing the CRM system.

Location:

This position is a full-time position that can be based within commutable distance to the Washington, DC metro area, London, UK metro area, Nairobi, Kenya metro area.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Opportunity Identification and Prospect Research

  • Systematically scan for new funding opportunities using donor websites, portals, social media and fundraising resources.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to inform the organization's decision-making process regarding pursuing specific opportunities.
  • Conduct in-depth prospect research on potential donors, recommending next steps in the cultivation process.

Proposal Development Support

  • Work closely with the Senior Development Manager to adapt boilerplate language for proposals and concepts.
  • Collate organizational and compliance information for proposals and concept notes.
  • Support the development of proposal timelines, scheduling meetings and coordinating program staff inputs to proposals.
  • Maintain the Proposal Library, ensuring concept notes and proposals are systematically added.

Fundraising Material Development

  • Work with program colleagues and communication colleagues to develop and write fundraising materials such as thematic two pagers.
  • Develop pitch decks showcasing TfG’s value proposition for partners and donors on specific thematic areas or funding opportunities.

Donor Engagement:

  • Support with the planning of online and in-person events.
  • Prepare comprehensive meeting briefings and slide decks for donor meetings, events, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather relevant data and stories that effectively communicate the impact and importance of our work.
  • Support the delivery of tailored stewardship and cultivation strategies, including producing bespoke updates.
  • Produce development-focused content for the newsletter, blog, website and social media.
  • Prepare donation acknowledgement templates, letters, emails and social media posts.

Administrative Support:

  • Oversee administrative tasks related to fundraising activities.
  • Maintain the Development Files in the G Drive.
  • Manage the organization's CRM system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date donor information and communication logs.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • At least 3 years previous experience working full time in fundraising, development, or a related field within the nonprofit sector (Essential)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively (Essential)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for different audiences (Essential)
  • Experience in conducting prospect research and analyzing data to inform decision-making (Desirable)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices for nonprofit communications (Desirable)
  • Familiarity with remote-first, asynchronous work (Essential)
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and donor databases (Desirable)

Location & Ways of Working

This position is a full-time position that can be based within commutable distance to the Washington, DC metro area, London, UK metro area, Nairobi, Kenya metro area. Applicants should have prior work authorization for their preferred location.

This is currently a remote position. All team members are expected to be available during the core working hours of  9:00 AM - 1:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. The other four hours that the team member chooses to work are flexible and may be coordinated with their supervisor. This position will also require some travel - anticipated up to 10 days of international travel per year. 

Compensation 

This role offers a competitive salary adjusted to the cost of labor in the city where the candidate resides. Final salary within this location adjusted range will also be determined by the candidate’s qualifications and years and type of experience. 

For example, the annual salary for the position for a candidate based in 

  • Washington, D.C. will be $63,000 - $73,250
  • London, United Kingdom will be £68,950 - £78,325
  • Nairobi, Kenya will be Ksh 5,056,000 - Ksh 5,925,000
