Through a wide range of free programs and workshops, we support parents and caregivers as they build child development skills. Position Summary

The Child Care Business Coach plays a key role in helping our Provider Services Team achieve our goals and will incrementally build-out our FCC Incubator and associated services. S/he/they provides a wide range of coaching and educational training to new and existing licensed FCCs, from licensing, designing effective educational programs, ECE professionalism, business operations, finance, developing successful value propositions, and client support.  S/he/they supports providers as they increase their knowledge and continuously improve the quality of their programs. The Coach also contributes to developing workshops as well as a suite of supports, what needs our clients have, and, what cultural adaptations our client segments need.   The Business Coach also contributes learnings from the Incubator program to improvements across Provider Services, Children’s Council, and the ECE field.

Responsibilities

The Child Care Business Coach’s core responsibilities are to help design a new program that will encourage, support and motivate FCCs to improve their skills and abilities so that they can provide high-quality care and run successful business. In the context of that responsibility, the Coach will:


  • Develop a holistic coaching model that assists ECE educators with all aspects of running a successful child care program.
  • Provide group and individualized training and TA related to business ownership and children’s development.
  • Help FCCs develop goals for program improvement and translate those into a prioritized actionable plan.
  • Help programs to understand, navigate and coordinate the integration of the myriad supports available.
  • Design responsive curriculum, training, resources and services, in the context of system-wide quality-improvement and sustainable business goals.
  • Design curriculum, training, and resources; facilitate linkages to professional development opportunities.
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders—ECE programs, community-based organizations, funders and content experts—in a manner that engenders rapport and credibility.
  • Develop strong partnerships with outside organizations to build a more effective program through strategic collaboration.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with provider facing teams and quality coaches to ensure holistic and streamlined support. Train staff on other teams in best practices and resources for holistic coaching.
  • Document service delivery/utilization and solicit customer feedback to continuously improve services and assess progress and impact.
  • Collect and enter data to fulfill grant and funder reporting requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 5 + years’ experience in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences, or related field
  • Bilingual proficiency with English/Cantonese.
  • Knowledge of, and experience supporting and working with family child care providers.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring adult learners
  • Experience with curriculum development, dual language learning, inquiry-based learning, quality improvement planning, implementation and systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding and high-level experience working with adult learning concepts and strategies.
  • Expertise in a wide range of content that applies to successful child care businesses from operations best practices to educational development to state assessment frameworks. Know the ECE field and the local landscape.
  • Demonstrated understanding and high-level experience working with adult learning concepts and strategies.
  • Experience developing and delivering training, coaching, and peer learning facilitation for adult learners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products including excel and PowerPoint, zoom, and are comfortable with using technology to improve interactions with clients and the processing of forms and documentation.
  • Project management skills such as using effective time management tools and processes; ability to plan new projects through to delivery, reflection, and reporting.
  • Must have flexibility to work some evenings and weekends and be comfortable/able to travel within all San Francisco communities.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move throughout the office, access files, meet with clients and community stakeholders.
  • Requires the mental acuity to perform the essential functions as outlined in an accurate and timely fashion.

COVID Policies

All staff are required to be fully vaccinated (barring application for medical or religious exemptions). Wearing masks in the office is optional for our staff.

Hybrid Work

We have adopted a hybrid working model and currently require employees to be present in the office at least 3 days per week, with the option to work 2 days per week remotely. There are a few roles where the hybrid schedule is not conducive. Similarly, there are a few positions that operate 100% remotely.
