Job Posting: Outreach Programs Coordinator (Full-time)

The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) is Illinois’ premier utility watchdog organization, striving for better service and lower utility rates for all Illinois residents. Our work ranges from challenging utility ratehike requests, to fighting for more sustainable energy policies, to helping individuals better understand how to make their energy cleaner and more affordable.
CUB’s outreach team travels across the state to host hundreds of grassroots community events annually. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented outreach programs coordinator to assist in organizing these events.This role presents an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an exciting and noble cause: fighting electric/gas rate increases, helping protect consumers from rip-offs, and advocating for a clean energy future in Illinois.

What you’ll do at CUB:
- Research and establish relationships with promising organizations, elected officials, municipalities, and businesses to promote CUB’s services.
- Serve as the main CUB contact for setting up grassroots outreach events.
- Screen requests for CUB to appear at community events and handle necessary paperwork.
- Assist with event publicity by:
- Assisting on developing social media posts and mass emails to advertise events.
- Designing, printing, and sending mail pieces advertising events.
- Manage pre- and post-event logistics, including registrations, materials, and data-entry.
- Work with other outreach staff to improve CUB’s internal and external event management processes.
- Act as a liaison between the outreach and communications departments, identifying opportunities for greater collaboration and information-sharing.
- Engage and educate the public on a number of topics, including utility policy, renewable energy, building decarbonization, energy efficiency and demand response.
- Represent the organization at stakeholder meetings and events across Illinois, interacting with a wide range of people while learning about natural gas, electric, and telecom policies and how they intersect with issues of sustainability, affordability, and equity.

- Ability to self-start and work with minimal supervision.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and video conferencing/streaming platforms such as Zoom, StreamYard.
- Familiarity with InDesign, Salesforce, EveryAction, WordPress, Eventbrite, and/or Canva, a plus.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License and willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
