DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Organization for Prostitution Survivors will sustain and expand upon its services by adding a full-time CSE SURVIVOR ADVOCATE. The CSE Advocate will assist in the creation and facilitation of survivor-centered/ -led, trauma-informed, and culturally specific holistic services for survivors of sexual exploitation. This position requires an empathetic, resilient, and passionate individual who is comfortable providing assistance to those in crisis and developing healing relationships with members of the OPS community. We are looking for an individual with lived or professional experience in CSE and a deep understanding of the sex trade. OPS values passionate self-starters with the ability to utilize best practices in holistic care. This position will be responsible for managing a typical caseload of 25 active adult participants. 

Job Duties: 

● Participate in creating a healing community for all participants including ongoing and one-time crisis intervention or recovery services utilizing low-barrier therapeutic interventions 

● Interface and build relationships with survivors of complex trauma with the intention of stabilization and referral to long-term therapeutic resources 

● Liaises with the Seattle City Attorney’s Office, Seattle Police Department, and Probation to identify and provide outreach to individuals currently facing arrest through pre-filing for Prostitution offenses

● Works with participants experiencing one of the above systems to fulfill Seattle municipal code requirements for diversion and report to Seattle City Attorney’s Office, Probation, and Seattle Municipal Court on completion of diversion requirements 

● Attend the ASC Direct Service monthly meetings and other community meetings as necessary 

● Deliver all services and strategies in a manner that is culturally sensitive and centers the strengths and dignity of the person.

● Provide 1:1 and group recovery services for a typical caseload of 25 active clients 

● Create a healing path and plan for participants including, in-takes, case management, safety/service plans, referrals, and clinical strategies that move toward individualized health goals 

● Participate in crisis interventions, case consultations, and debriefs with the Survivor Services Team 

● Connect participants to relevant in-house and partner services that supply healing-centered service provisions that utilize the following interventions: motivational interviewing, trauma-informed care, CBT, DBT, ACT, somatic/yoga therapy, therapeutic art, mutual aid groups, harm reduction, and low barrier services 

● Complete intakes, provide long-term case management and support participants in identifying and documenting case management goals 

● Engage participants in a manner that is culturally sensitive and centers the strengths and dignity of the person 

● Participate in the programming of other services; such as drop-ins, support groups, outreach events, and activities 

● Participate in community collaborations and partnerships to ensure the most appropriate and culturally relevant resources and referrals are available for participants 

● Assist with coordination and engage in street-based outreach events 

● Participate in supervision & team meetings as directed by the supervisor and/or director ● Other duties, as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED: 

● Empathetic and compassionate listener with the ability to problem-solve 

● Ability to stay grounded and calm for participants during the crisis 

● Group facilitation skills and an ability to engage participants who are therapy/service-adverse

● Ability to provide guided self-expression experiences to help clients recover from trauma 

● Knowledge of therapeutic and recovery support 

● Understanding and experience with empowerment-based advocacy 

● A working understanding of how trauma manifests in the body/mind. Ability to provide resources for clients with codependency, addiction, creating healthy boundaries, and PTSD 

● Working knowledge of Commercial Sexual Exploitation, gender-based violence, sexual assault, domestic violence, homelessness, and/or substance dependence 

● Theoretical and experiential understanding of complex trauma and systemic oppression particularly an understanding of sex/gender-based oppression, racism, and poverty 

● Passionate about using art as a healing modality for recovering from trauma 

● Creativity, imagination, and enthusiasm for using art as a medium for personal healing 

● Reliable, flexible, self-starter, and a team player 

● Effective written and verbal communication 

● Passion for creating social systems change including the active dismantling of patriarchy, heterosexism,

and classism 

● Open to new ideas and skilled in breaking silos 

● Energetic optimist with a commitment to the mission of OPS and women’s liberation 

Preferred Skills: 

● Understanding of CSE through lived experience and/or work/education history 

● Understanding of incarceration, reentry, and criminal justice systems through lived experience and/or work/education history 

● Knowledge and experience with local social service systems and resources 

● Confidence and experience in utilizing general tech and computer skills (OPS primarily uses GSuite and Apricot Social Solutions) 

● Experience partnering and networking with agencies 

● Proven ability to make sound, proactive decisions in potentially emotionally charged situations and/or in the absence of complete clarity; comfortable utilizing de-escalation skills 

● Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion 


TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENT 

● This role requires access to reliable transportation. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT 

● Ability to perform moderate physical work 

SCHEDULE 

      ● 36-hour work week completed Monday through Friday, with the occasional evening or weekend shift. OPS staff can flex their schedules as needed, but standard work hours are between 10 am-6 pm. OPS employees are currently working a mixture of remote and in-person shifts. In-person work will include duties at our Burien office and outreach/partner meetings in Seattle.

Compensation and Benefits 

● $23- $27 per hour DOE 

● OPS considers 1 FTE as 36 hours a week 

● OPS provides vacation, paid holidays (including a winter break and two floating holidays), unlimited sick leave, wellness and self-care days, and bereavement leave
