Position Details

Status: Full-time

Location: Remote, flexible in the United States

Reports to: COO

Who We Are

Credential Engine is a non-profit whose mission is to map the credential landscape with clear and consistent information, fueling the creation of resources that empower people to find the pathways that are best for them.

We envision a future where millions of people worldwide have access to information about credentials that opens their eyes to the full range of opportunities for learning, advancement, and meaningful careers. For more information, visit www.credentialengine.org

What We Do

Credential Engine provides a suite of web-based services that creates for the first time a Credential Registry to house up-to-date information about all credentials and skills, a common description language to enable credential comparability, and a platform to support customized applications to search and retrieve information about credentials.

Credential Engine currently works with a growing number of states, institutions, federal agencies, data partners, and global partners to support their efforts to make essential data about credentials and competencies open, transparent, and linked in order to better serve learners, workers, employers, and others. Credential Engine partners with national and state organizations with expertise in workforce, education and data advocacy, technical assistance organizations, employer and labor associations, and others to support policies that make credential transparency an enduring value in the marketplace.

Why We Do It

Through an increasing array of credentials – such as degrees, licenses, badges and apprenticeships – job seekers, learners, and workers have more options than ever to help them get ahead. Yet, there has never been an efficient way to collect, search, and compare credentials in a way that can be both universally understood and maintained in a manner that keeps up with the speed of change in the 21st century. With more than 1,000,000 unique credentials in the U.S. alone, and millions worldwide, this lack of information in the marketplace contributes to confusion and uninformed decision making.

Primary Responsibilities:

To advance our mission, Credential Engine works with education and training institutions and providers, federal, state and regional partners, credentialing bodies, businesses and vendors to publish credential and skills data using a common schema to the Credential Registry. Using the suite of Credential Engine data publishing tools, this position will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the customer success team who serve as the primary contacts with organizations and individuals who want to publish to the Credential Registry. This position will also work to develop scalable training and guidance resources for publishing to the Credential Registry to ensure our partners have a positive publishing experience. This position will possess strong customer service and communication skills, the technical aptitude to work with subject matter experts and non-technical stakeholders, and proven ability to create positive learning experiences. This position will work alongside technical staff (programmers, solution architects, etc.) but will not be responsible to lead this level of technical guidance.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the partner success team to ensure that customers are receiving timely, accurate, and appropriate resources to support their account creation and publishing needs.
  • Track and support all publishing efforts underway and ensure that all such initiatives are carried through to success efficiently, effectively, and in a timely manner.
  • Understand the challenges and context of publishing to proactively meet the needs and opportunities, both internally and with external customers.
  • Lead the development of customized publishing technical assistance via advisory groups, task groups, and pilot projects.
  • Coordinate across internal teams (state partnership, business strategy, and technical) to ensure that publishing workflows are fully supported, and, where necessary, develop internal guidance materials on workflows and publishing tools to support the Credential Engine team.
  • Create and deliver engaging and effective learning experiences for both staff and external partners, aligned with Credential Engine's goals and objectives.
  • Organize, create content for, and host webinars to educate internal and external stakeholders on best practices and procedures for publishing in the Credential Registry.
  • Take responsibility for the content development and maintenance of the Credential Registry Guidance website, ensuring that information is accurate, up-to-date, and user-friendly.
  • This position may also support and lead the development, design, and implementation of a certificate or certification program focused on training individuals in the utilization of CTDL (Credential Transparency Description Language) in collaboration with the technical team, by crafting curriculum and learning materials for the certificate program, incorporating industry best practices and real-world scenarios.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues.
  • Proficiency in creating guidance materials in various formats, including webpages, videos, and PDFs.
  • Ability to collaborate with technical teams and translate complex concepts into accessible instructional materials for our technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must exemplify flexibility and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively; prioritize, manage, and appropriately delegate multiple projects.
  • Operating style suited to working in a small team and remote environment where teamwork, creativity, and flexibility are valued.
  • Experience and proven ability to quickly learn and understand Credential Engine technologies and other tools and utilize them for primarily web-based delivery of materials and instructions for a professional adult audience.
  • Experience in education or workforce development to understand and incorporate how CTDL and the Credential Registry solve challenges and improve learn and work ecosystems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with the Credential Transparency Description Language (CTDL) or similar standards is a definite plus.
