Deputy Canvass Director

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Position Summary

This is a full-time position based in our Allegheny County field office.  Key responsibilities include

  • Support the Canvass Director in ensuring the canvas team achieves daily voter registration goals and monitors the voter registration card rate.
  • Work with our Pennsylvania team to find and secure quality high-traffic site locations for voter registration including cultural events, local business partnerships, schools, and other related sites where BIPOC communities.
  • Support partners and vendors in tracking progress to goals
  • Recruit contracted field canvassers and provide an orientation of voter registration program.
  • Bottomline Quality Control process to ensure high-quality voter registrations
  • Pay: $4,600/month


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Management and Recruiting: Conduct work to increase the effectiveness of voter contact. This may include, but is not limited to:
  • Assisting in trainings for canvassers
  • Assisting in executing recruitment plan to hire canvassers
  • Supporting canvassers to improve outcomes
  • Coordinating and creating a schedule to collect voter registration at different locations.
  • Additional tasks as needed to support the Canvass Director and Canvass Team in running a successful program and achieving team goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to keep a positive attitude when meeting new people
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and creativity


Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated competence in supervising a team and managing projects
  • Ability to train and coach people 
  • Experience in voter registration and/or leading civic engagement work  
  • Experience in advocacy work or politics, preferably with a climate or other social justice focus
