Schedule: 12 noon to 8pm, in person

Travel: Based upon the needs of the program, travel will consist of visiting sites, attending meetings, court and any other YEAH Philly event

Summary: Youth Empowerment for Advancement Hangout (YEAH) is a Black-led, community-based non-profit supporting teens and young adults in West and Southwest Philadelphia ages 15 to 24 who are impacted by violence. YEAH works to create safe and authentic hangout spaces by providing culturally relevant engagement and implementing teen led interventions to address the root causes of violence. Utilizing teen action through peer led mediation and conflict resolution, community engagement, and economic opportunities, YEAH interrupts the cycle of youth community violence. YEAH acknowledges teens and young adults as the experts of their own lives and prioritizes pushing back against oppressive systems and addressing structural barriers that often lead to violence. 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The Director of Staff will be responsible for the oversight and coordinating of day-to-day financial, operations, programming, clinical and case management, staff supervision, and administrative office tasks that help YEAH Philly function as a new and growing organization. The Director of Staff will also provide support and directly supervise programs, case management, clinical and court advocate staff.  Examples of duties include providing weekly supervision meetings with staff, conducting staff evaluations, creating and implementing performance and improvement plans, debriefing and assisting with case reviews or problem solving issues that may arise with clients. This position will directly supervise up to 15 program staff at a time.  This position will work with various staff members and be supervised by YEAH Philly’s Executive Team.


Job Requirements: Philadelphia resident or residency within 3 months required. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. This is not an entry level position and candidates should have at least seven to ten years’ experience in leading teams, program and staff management, clinical and case management, finances and operations. Candidates must have superb organizational and administrative skills and must have previous experience with knowing how to take initiative, being action oriented, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates who identify racially or ethnically as Black or Brown and have been personally impacted by the criminal legal system or violence (directly or indirectly) are strongly encouraged to apply.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Meet with the Executive team regularly for updates
  • Attend and represent YEAH Philly at all YEAH Philly events, meeting, conferences, and court related appearances
  • Oversee budgement management for programming 
  • Supervise staff, interns and volunteers (Clinical, Court-related, Administrative, Finances)
  • Create systems to help YEAH Philly run effectively and efficiently
  • Problem solving (Solutions-Oriented) 
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of activities of a program; plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review the work of staff; develop and revise work processes; establish work schedules; provide or coordinate staff training; manage performance and work with staff to correct deficiencies; monitor work performed to meet agreed upon goals and objectives.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommend improvements and modifications; recommend and implement policies and procedures; assist in the development and administration of the budget; participate in forecasting additional funds for staffing and resources; and prepare various reports on operations and activities.
  • Recommend changes to improve service delivery and implement as needed. 
  • Ensure continuity of care in the provision of comprehensive services and for coordinating communication with other service components.
