Descripción

Tilth Alliance works in community with Washington farmers, gardeners and eaters to build a sustainable, healthy and equitable food future.  Through our work we encourage and support farmers and gardeners throughout Washington in adopting organic, regenerative, sustainable growing practices; we help bring sustainably produced food from the fields of farmers here in Washington to the plates of consumers; we inspire people to enjoy growing, cooking and eating food that is delicious and healthy, strengthens their communities, and is good for the environment.  We engage in advocacy, education and collaboration to achieve our goals.   Equity, inclusion, and the cultivation of an anti-racist culture are important outcomes expected of all the work we do.

Tilth Alliance’s Seasonal Farm Stand Project Manager is primarily responsible for operational management of the Pay-What-You-Can Farm Stand, including ordering and packing, supervising volunteers, and overseeing compliance with food access benefit programs. This seasonal role will also provide support to other Market Programs activities including the Good Food Bag Program (GFB), Community Kitchens meals, and cut flower project. The GFB program works with local farmers, many of whom are immigrants or refugees, to order high-quality produce that is distributed weekly, primarily to low-income families at subsidized rates. Our Farm Stand runs June 13th-Sept 26th (closed July 4th), and Community Kitchens meals take place approximately monthly.

The Seasonal Farm Stand Project Manager will manage many of the week-to-week logistics of running our farm stand from early June through early October. Responsibilities include ordering local produce and other food items, supporting volunteers in market prep and day of, updating prices, operating as the staff point person on farm stand Thursdays, and weekly wrap up. The typical work week will be Tuesday- Friday, approximately 30 hours per week. There is potential to support other programs for additional hours, depending on availability.

The Seasonal Farm Stand Project Manager will be based out of the Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands.
