Volunteer Coordinator & Teacher / Librarian

We are seeking someone to commit to a year for this position. Before the pandemic, Project Esperanza received an average of 12 volunteer groups per year, many whom stayed at our volunteer house. We also host two AirBnB experiences and have frequent guests through that. Therefore, the volunteer coordinator is the person responsible for coordinating volunteers' stay, welcoming them, coordinating details of meals, transportation, providing orientation and some translation, etc.

Since volunteers are not always present, this role also involves an 8-3 weekday teaching schedule, and 3 hours on Saturday mornings. In addition to teaching, this position involves helping out with administrative tasks within the organization.

A four year degree is preferred but not required. A high school diploma is required. Fluency is English is required. Proficiency in Spanish, or close to it is also required. Some volunteer experience is required as well.

Since this position is in the Dominican Republic, a proficiency in Spanish, or close to it, is required. Since this position requires hosting English speaking volunteers and also teaching English as a second language to students, native English speakers are preferred, but anyone fluent in English may apply.
