The Woman’s National Democratic Club, a 102-year-old social club near Dupont Circle, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Venue and Event Marketing Professional or Firm for its historic mansion, the Whittemore House. The successful applicant or firm will work closely with club staff and leadership and be a gracious and approachable representative of the Whittemore House.
Responsibilities
- Market the Whittemore House as a venue for meetings, receptions, dinners, parities, weddings, film and news productions.
- Plan, implement, and monitor all outreach including but not limited to social media, regional print, and regional event marketing shows.
- Work with club staff and leaders on developing appropriate printed marketing materials.
- Work with club staff to plan and promote on-site marketing events and tours as appropriate.
- Work with club staff and leadership on maintaining the Whittemore House website.
- Respond to all inquiries with appropriate information about the house, food and beverage, estimated costs.
- Arrange and host tours for interested clients.
- Work with clients to develop and plan their event including selection of rooms and menus.
- Coordinate with the Facilities Manager on the writing of a contract and banquet order.
- When necessary, provide event planning and management services including but not limited to budgeting, room set-up, menu selection, vendors, logistics, security, and on-site event supervision.
Reporting
This position will report to the club's President and work closely with the Facilities Manager, with occasional coordination with other staff and club leaders. We require monthly written reports detailing marketing efforts, inquiries, prospects, tours, and bookings.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience marketing Washington DC area venues, especially smaller historic venues, to a diverse array of potential clients including for weddings and conferences
- Deep knowledge of and experience with social media for marketing
- Highly organized with an ability to manage multiple contacts and streams of information as well as an event/venue pipeline
- Strong communication skills – written and oral
- Excellent relationship-building and customer service skills
- Creativity and initiative
