DESCRIPTION:

The Neighborhood Development Director is an exciting opportunity to work closely with ENP’s Executive Director and oversee the Neighborhood Development team. This role deeply engages in civic infrastructure and place-based efforts within Fresno, including creating place-based strategies that lead to self-sustainability, empowerment, and leadership development with residents and strategic partners to positively impact their communities. 


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Manage and lead the Neighborhood Development team
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate the success of programs within the Neighborhood Development department 
  • Initiate and set goals for program success
  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with community members to help define problems, solutions, and partnerships. 
  • Leads community-based capacity-building projects
  • Includes backbone support; providing technical assistance, leadership training, talent development, and strategy development
  • Manages strategies for engagement of people and opportunities to support community goals. 
  • Project Management activities that include logic model, budget sheets, reporting, and delegation to department team
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion — attention to equity throughout the organization’s practices and work
  • Create and maintain an annual departmental budget 
  • Supporting the research, data collection, and writing of grants/funding development (draft proposals/contracts) for the department
  • Ability to work some evening and weekend hours
  • Other duties as needed

  • Understanding of neighborhood community development and organizing
  • Strategic thinking abilities, including planning and organizational skills
  • Manage multiple nuanced projects simultaneously 
  • Ability to assess the workability of an idea and or solution 
  • Meeting facilitation skills
  • Ability to respond positively to the promptings and needs of support staff, colleagues, and the organization 
  • Ability to guide and support initiatives into the first stages of implementation
  • Ability to use Google Workplace, Zoom, Facebook, and various online applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to community development and racial equity, diversity and inclusion; 
  • Understanding of challenges facing communities of color and low-and moderate-income families 
  • Heart to serve, both humanity and place


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: 

  • High School/GED education required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or at least 4 years of experience in asset-based community development and community organizing
  • Must be fluent in English. Spanish is recommended. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms, kneel, talk, and hear. At times, this position may include periods of extended physical activity such as walking/standing at community events and/or moving and distributing educational materials. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.

Compensación

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

  • $70,000 - $80,000
  • Time Off: 
  • Paid holiday days in accordance with the Federal holiday calendar, plus the Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day
  • Accrual of paid time off: Year One: 40 Hours / Year Two: 80 Hours / Year Three: 100 Hours / Year Four: 120 Hours
  • 1 Day Away a Month for silence, solitude, and spiritual connection
  • Accrual of paid sick leave at the rate of one hour per every 30 hours worked, paid at the employee’s regular wage rate, with a maximum accrual of 48 hours per year. Accrual shall begin on the first day of employment.
  • Medical Insurance covered up to $1,000/month
  • 401(k) retirement match of up to 3%
  • Reimbursable Wellness Benefit of up to $50/month
  • Reimbursable Educational Benefit, upon approval, for the cost of tuition, fees, and required course materials up to a maximum of $2,500 per calendar year over 5 years for a total max amount of $10,000
  • Reimbursable Cell Phone Benefit of $20/pay period
  • Personal and Professional Development of up to $750 for 2024
