As a key member of the Easterseals Redwood team, the VP of Economic Empowerment leads programmatic strategy and execution designed to build equitable economic opportunities that enable individuals in our community with disabilities and/or economic disadvantages to thrive. We do this work by providing innovative, equity-centered opportunities for individuals to build a career pathway with transferable skills and meaningful employment aligned to their goals, with an emphasis on in-demand industries. The VP of Economic Empowerment is a member of the senior leadership team who sees the interconnectedness of our strategy of equity, access and inclusion for all across multiple demographic groups. Responsible for a $7MM budget, this role brings a strategic “act like an owner” mindset by ensuring executional excellence in program design/delivery and community partnership as well as outstanding fiscal stewardship and superb people management. The VP of Economic Empowerment is active in identifying and tracking emerging trends that create new opportunities for the development and delivery of programs and services that enhance the ability of Easterseals Redwood to fulfill its mission.
Essential and Primary Responsibilities:
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strategy, Innovation, & Execution: Develop strategies in alignment with the overall organization wide strategic priorities to support the expansion of existing programs and the development of new programs. Provide leadership and strategic input to program teams to maximize programming and partnership strategies, financial resources, and community relationships. Plan and meet deadlines to meet/exceed expectations of agreed upon goals with executive management; as appropriate act with a sense of urgency and work as a team player. Partner with executive leadership to ensure integration and alignment of program plans with the overall agency strategy and vision of CEO and Board of Directors. (20%)
Program Development, Quality Management & Outcomes Assessments: Grow and develop a portfolio of Economic Empowerment programs that align with agency strategy and mission. Develop meaningful, appropriate and accurate data and supporting documentation relating to new and existing program development activities to meet the decision-making and risk assessment needs of the agency. Regularly demonstrate proactive initiative; Coordinate the process for systematic review and outcome evaluation of all programs to share lessons learned and best practices across the enterprise. (25%)
Financial Leadership & Budget Management: Develop accurate annual operational budgets inclusive of revenue and expense projections, while effectively managing those projections throughout the year and managing associated risks/opportunities through a reforecast process in partnership with finance team. Proactively analyze results regularly to ensure fiscal accountability across the team in ways that align with strict adherence to internal fiscal policies. Review all expenses, contracts and other financial obligations with an eye towards maximizing our resources available for community investment. As a part of continuous improvement identify productivity opportunities to optimize program costs. Understand the enterprise-wide impact of fiscal decisions and role overhead plays in supporting program impact. Partner with the advancement team to develop funding proposals including associated budgets for new and existing programs. (20%)
Talent Management: The capability to develop and unleash individual and team potential is essential. Coach team members as they set goals, prioritize, delivery programs and evaluate impact. Develop an inclusive, equitable team-based environment to motivate and inspire staff to work collaboratively toward vision and goal by clearly communicating agency vision, and implementing yearly staff development plans. Value cultural diversity and best utilize individual abilities, skills, and characteristics when collaborating with others to complete work tasks.
Build a culture of learning through the ongoing gift of feedback designed to help teams grow professionally and build new competencies. Through training, informal mentoring and coaching contribute to the development of program leadership teams’ capacities to effectively carry out the development, expansion and tracking of program outcomes, external communications, grant-writing and other client-driven service delivery activities. (20%)
External/Internal Relationship Builder: Identify and invest in the building of strong, trusted relationships with partner organization, business, and government entities. Coordinate with Marketing in the collection of compelling member experience stories that capture the essence of the work of ESRW. Support the CEO in the execution of board management through board committees. (15%)
