Development Specialist-**This role must be performed in Seattle or the surrounding areas**
The Development Specialist position will play a crucial role in securing necessary financial resources to support our mission and services. This role involves responsibilities related to fundraising, donor engagement, and financial sustainability. You will be responsible for assisting in the planning, coordinating, and executing of fundraising strategies to secure the financial resources needed to provide services to Brain Injury survivors and caregivers. This role involves engaging with donors, organizing fundraising events, data hygiene, and managing grant applications. This role is fully remote, with the exception of attending events. Estimated 25-30 hours/week.
Key Tasks:
- Donor Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors and foundations who support the organization’s mission.
- Research and identify potential grant opportunities: prepare grant applications, and manage the grant application process, including reporting and compliance.
- Fundraising Events: Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing fundraising events, such as peer to peer walks, benefit dinners, or community outreach activities, to attract financial support.
- Online Fundraising: Oversee online fundraising campaigns, including crowdfunding, peer to peer fundraising, and donor appeals through email and social media.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate donor and prospect records in the BIAWA database and salesforce, ensuring data integrity.
- Community Engagement: Engage with the local community, including support groups, organizations and individuals affected by Brain Injury to raise awareness and further community support and advocacy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Management, business, or related field, CFRE a plus.
- Experience in nonprofit fund development, including grant writing, individual giving, and event planning.
- Knowledge of brain injury related issues or willingness to learn, and strong communication skills to convey the BIAWA mission.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills. Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Proficiency in donor management software and fundraising platforms to include salesforce.
- Ethical and responsible handling of donor information and financial resources.
