Village of Hope, Inc.

The Village of Hope, in Salisbury, Maryland, is a not-for-profit, non-denominational organization which provides a transitional living program and medical care to economically disadvantaged residents of the Lower Shore of Maryland.

Women accepted into the Steps to Success Transitional Living Programcome from all walks of life. Often, they are caught in a cycle of homelessness, domestic violence, alcohol and/or drug abuse, and financial deprivation. The program offers up to two years of residency in one of the furnished apartments located in the Village of Hope residence building. Program Participants are required to establish a written, time-oriented plan for achieving self-sufficiency and are offered mental health treatment, on-site GED, transportation assistance, tutoring, life skills workshops, and other resources.

The Village of Hope Medical Clinic,a separate facility on the same campus, provides medical care to any adult in the community, regardless of his or her ability to pay. Fees are calculated on an income-based sliding scale for those without health coverage of any kind. Medicaid and Medicare are accepted, as are some private insurance plans. Care is provided by licensed medical providers augmented by pro bono care rendered by several area physicians.
