Nueva Vida, OBC

Nueva Vida is a community-based organization created to promote care for the planet, care for people and limits to growth and consumption. Based on these, the three principal ethics of Permaculture, the organization promotes replicable model(s) to encourage the socio-environmental and cultural changes needed to live sustainably on our planet.

Our main focus is to support and foster the formation of a Permaculture based EcoVillage as a replicable model of sustainable living and to share experiences and learning with local communities. This involves the following:

• Restoring, reforesting and/or conserving forests and water sources,
• Stimulating activities that decrease emissions of greenhouse gases and that increase the resilience of local communities to the effects of climate change,
• Promote informed participation in environmental matters, and
• Other community environmental initiatives that contribute to improving the quality of life like environmental education, recovering ancestral knowledge, green enterprises, scientific investigations, and others.

The organization's primary activities include:

1. Promoting Permaculture as a design science for socio-cultural and environmental sustainability
2. Developing educational activities about Permaculture for environmental and socio-cultural conscious-raising, including practical and theoretical workshops and work brigades such as:

• Ethics and principles of sustainability
• Cooperation and conservation
• Sustainable water management
• Reforestation, food forests, and agro-silvo-pasture systems
• Ecological and permaculture construction
• Sustainable, ecological enterprises

1. Ecological and permaculture construction, reforestation, creation of food forests and agro-silvo-pasture systems, water management and erosion prevention
2. Artisan enterprises, plant nurseries, ecotourism, recycling, composting, others
3. Fostering strong local economies through the creation of local markets, impact hubs, cooperative work spaces, others
4. Seek funds to help achieve the objectives, goals and activities of the organization.
