Literacy Volunteers of the NRV

Literacy Volunteers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (Proliteracy member and United Way partner agency) that provides free instruction for adults in reading, writing, basic math, basic computer skills, and English for speakers of other languages. The mission of Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley is to foster, support, advocate for, and instruct adults in the New River Valley who seek opportunities to achieve greater independence through literacy. The organization will employ a total of 4 part-time staff, has an annual budget of approximately $145,000, works with more than 150 volunteers per year, and annually serves approximately 200 adult learners.
