STA is the first technical society of multifamily building maintenance personnel, organized by the Apartment House Insititute of New York City College of Technology (CUNY) in Brooklyn, New York. It meets monthly on technical subjects selected by its members. It maintains a Web site and publishes a free monthly newsletter, "Super!" Members are mostly building maintenance workers but also include some managers, owners and vendors. STA is dedicated to combat the "Upstairs/Downstairs" mentality in the real estate industry that inhibits upward mobility for maintenance personnel. It receives funding from dues paid by members and contributors.
