Emmaus is a Christian non-profit working to prevent exploitation and empower male and male identifying survivors of the sex trade to rebuild their lives. We seek to affirm worth, reject stigma, and offer the hope to male survivors. Trafficking and exploitation impact ALL people, but many think it only affects females. However, a nationwide study found 36% of those involved in the sex trade were men and boys. Still, of the 800+ organizations working against trafficking in the U.S., fewer than 2% support male-identifying clients. Male victims and survivors are often overlooked, misunderstood, stereotyped, ignored, and left without support. Emmaus seeks to narrow that gap in services, empower male survivors and amplify their voices, and foster a movement to fight trafficking and exploitation for ALL people.
