Red Sweater Project collaborates with developing communities in the creation of affordable, accessible and innovative educational opportunities for children in rural Tanzania.

Red Sweater Project operates the Mungere School near the town of Mto wa Mbu in northern Tanzania. 90% of Tanzanians are unable to complete secondary school due to the high cost of school tuition fees. Through the support of volunteers and sponsors, we are able to keep Mungere School fees affordable for every family in Mungere Village, making education accessible for everyone.

Red Sweater Project partners with volunteers from around the globe who contribute their skills and expertise to the students of the Mungere School. Our teachers create an interactive and supportive learning environment and supplement the standard curriculum with health education, life-skills workshops and extra-curricular activities. Sustainable design principles are incorporated into the Mungere campus, including a school garden, composting toilets, and renewable energy. By creating educational institutions that utilize computers and the internet, we equip each child with skills that lead to success in a 21st century world. Courses in business development encourage entrepreneurship and innovation, while vocational courses develop skills that lead to employment and self-sufficiency.
