Bolder Options is an innovative activity-based mentoring program for "at-risk" youth ages 10-14 who live in Hennepin and Ramsey Counties. The majority of youth who are referred to the program are truant or involved in the juvenile justice system. Youth are matched with their mentors for one year and they participate in either the Running or Biking Program. Youth meet with their mentors on a 1:1 basis for 2-4 hours per week . During this time, mentors and youth train to complete three community bike events or 5k races together, work on academic issues, and set goals to build successful attributes in the youth's life. Throughout the year, mentors and their youth will also actively participate in the community through volunteer work and meetings.
