Community Forklift is seeking a number of qualified individuals committed to our mission to serve a three-year term on our Board of Directors.

Located in Prince George’s County, Community Forklift is the DC-area’s nonprofit reuse center for home improvement supplies. We collect donations of new and used building materials and home essentials and make them available to the community at low cost. We also distribute free materials to nonprofits and neighbors in need, create good green jobs, and educate the public about reuse.

 Since 2005, Community Forklift has recovered an estimated $45 million of building materials in the national capital region, diverting tons of materials from local landfills. We partner with community groups, including housing nonprofits, schools, gardens, service organizations, and theatres.  Our community giving programs have provided $1 million in free materials to neighbors in need and local nonprofits since 2011.

As a Board Member, you will play a vital role in supporting the organization, its mission, and ongoing operations. This is an especially exciting and pivotal time as Community Forklift seeks to raise money for the purchase of a permanent location after leasing our current warehouse since 2005.

In addition to supporting our work of capturing value from waste, the Board is currently seeking individuals with the following skills and expertise:

     Finance 

Governance     

Project Management

    Community advocacy/organizing in the communities with whom we collaborate;

Representation of diverse perspectives, and; Other skills that advance the Community Forklift

mission.
