In June, the National Foster Youth Institute will bring 40 current and former foster youth to Washington, DC to meet with Members of Congress to discuss our nation's child welfare system and advocate on behalf of the 400,000 children in foster care and the thousands more who have recently aged out of the system. During their week in DC, participants in our program will receive trainings on policies, sharing their personal stories about foster care strategically, and how Congress works. On Monday, June 10 from 1:30 to 2:30pm, we will hold a workshop dedicated to getting comfortable with speaking with and presenting to new people. We are looking for someone with experience in public speaking, improv, or toastmasters to share some tips and advice as these foster youth activists get ready to make a big impact! If you're interested in joining us, please reach out to mariah.craven(at)nfyi.org.
