Leading Like a Lady Blog is a nonprofit company created to provide affirming advice and a platform for women of the African diaspora feeling insecure about their status in life. We do this by producing educational documentaries, books, online media, and digital services.
Our flagship program, Writeful Justice, is a 3-5 month program designed to give participants opportunities to earn official bylines in leading news/cultural publications, build a professional writing portfolio before graduating high school (let alone college), and boost their confidence as they find their voice.
We are looking for volunteers who are published journalists or authors to mentor the participants of our program. Their ages range between 11 and 14 years old, and they are primarily from marginalized groups within the education system.
Mentors will meet with a group of 5-10 participants for a minimum of three 1-hour sessions or six 30-minute sessions over the duration of the program. Meetings will be virtual (via Zoom) occurring during the afternoon in EST time zone
If interested, please submit an application with a link to your professional website, published work, and/or LinkedIn profile. Thanks in advance for considering this opportunity!
