Mental Health Presenter - Young Adult

The National Alliance on Mental Illness St. Louis (NAMI STL) is hiring multiple young adult presenters for our Ending the Silence (ETS) program. ETS is a 50-minute program in middle and high schools that addresses the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions and works to reduce stigma around the topic. Presenters share their personal experience with mental health conditions and answer student questions about those experiences as they feel comfortable.

If you’re between 18-30, have lived experience with mental health conditions, are able to share your personal experience, and have reliable personal transportation, you may be a good candidate for this role. Scheduling is extremely flexible. After you are trained, you are able to sign up for presentations that fit your schedule. You will be paid a $20 honorarium for each presentation given and receive mileage reimbursement.

This is an ideal opportunity for:

  • Future teachers who want more experience in front of a class
  • Mental health advocates
  • Social workers who may facilitate groups or workshops
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Mentors and leaders who want to reduce stigma around mental health conditions
  • Those who want to give back to the community

If this job is of interest to you or you have questions, please contact Stone Cook at scook@namistl.org or simply apply at https://www.namistl.org/get-involved/volunteer/

Please indicate that you are interested in becoming an ETS Young Adult presenter in the subject line, and include contact information and a resume, if possible.

We have a need for many presenters, so please feel free to encourage any friends or family who fit this job description to get in contact with Stone. We want speakers with a variety of life experiences, so if you do not hear your story told, this could be an opportunity to expand the conversation around mental health to include more stories like yours.
