Disaster Duty Officer
If you're calm under pressure and can have the ability to work on a computer and phone for communications, consider helping Red Cross teams respond to local disasters.
This is also an excellent fit for a retired or active emergency responder, and anyone with dispatch or team management experience.
Duties:
*Regional Position
*Support response and recovery efforts during disasters (often home fires, sometimes flooding).
*Receive notifications & details about active/recent emergencies.
*Activate & support response of local disaster workforce.
*Coordinate resources, use online case management & dispatch system.
Commitment:
*Yes, this requires time & energy. The experience will change you forever.
*At least eight- 6 hour on call shifts per month.
*Training and mentoring provided.
Qualifications:
*Comfortable with computers & phones with a reliable internet connection.
*Ability to multitask, trouble shoot & catch details under tight timelines.
*Capable of providing steady support in a highly emotional situation.
