Torch is a short form documentary captured this summer focused on elite athletes blazing the trail for the future of gender equity. We follow the journey of Lauren Kuntz, an electrical engineer turned entrepreneur, who has coached the Decathlon at her alma mater's MIT & Harvard, but is denied access to compete in this event herself because of her gender. So she launched the first ever elite gender inclusive Icosathlon and became the world record champion.
She also leads a sustainability company and is part of the less than 2% of women led founders who have ever successfully secured venture capital for a startup so she is fighting for healthier arenas in athletics, capitalism, and beyond. With parallels to the Katherine Switzer story of being denied access to compete in the Boston Marathon only a few decades ago, we're focused on shining a light on how to foster healthier, more diverse, competitive communities.
We've identified several grant opportunities to support post-production and amplifying reach of the film and need help drafting and editing grant applications.
