    Descrição

Location: Washington, DC | Full Time

Community Purchasing Alliance Cooperative (CPA Co-op) is a social-purpose cooperative that helps community organizations—schools, congregations, and other nonprofits—negotiate better contracts for their facilities. We strive to lower operating costs so that they can spend more on their missions. At the same time, we work to shift contract spending to local, woman-owned, and BIPOC-owned vendors.

We’re looking for a mission-aligned manager to help grow and support two key areas of our work: security services and energy programs. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys project coordination, vendor engagement, and making real impact through values-aligned purchasing.

    Areas of Responsibility

Area #1: Manage CPA’s DC Security Program

You will be the primary point of contact for CPA’s security service offerings in the DC region. You’ll work closely with the Member Engagement team and Operations team to coordinate service delivery, help members run successful RFPs (requests for proposals), and ensure ongoing satisfaction with vendors.

    • Support members through the RFP process. Help gather member needs, prepare scopes of work, launch RFPs, collect bids, and coordinate decision-making.
    • Coordinate site walkthroughs and vendor Q&A. Schedule walkthroughs with prospective vendors and ensure vendors have the information they need to submit thoughtful proposals.
    • Track participation and renewal timelines. Keep tabs on which members are engaged, what stage they’re in, and when their contracts are up for renewal.
    • Maintain strong relationships. Be a friendly and reliable point of contact for both members and vendors. Help troubleshoot any issues that arise during service delivery.
    • Collaborate on outreach. Support the member engagement team in identifying new participants for the program and promoting security offerings.
    • Track vendor performance. Collect and organize feedback on service quality, responsiveness, and member satisfaction.
    • Contribute to future growth. Offer input and observations that help improve the program in DC—and potentially support expansion to other CPA regions.

Area #2: Support CPA’s Energy Program

You will provide administrative and coordination support to the Energy Program Director, helping more community leaders come together for group energy contracts that aim to reduce energy costs, enable peer knowledge sharing, and build collective power.

    • Support energy purchases. Help prepare and track participation in CPA’s group energy purchases across 100+ organizations in 6+ states. Conduct outreach with community organizations, assist in data collection, and follow up with vendors and members.
    • Track contracts and timelines. Keep our internal energy database up to date. Help ensure we’re tracking key contract dates and renewals across hundreds of accounts.
    • Assist with member data collection and input. Collect utility bills from members and participants, input data in the internal energy database, and follow up with members as needed.
    • Communicate clearly with members and suppliers. Help translate technical or contract language into accessible options. Follow up with members and vendors to ensure clear, timely communication.
    • Stay curious and nimble. Be eager to learn the basics of a shifting energy landscape—including new products, market trends, and opportunities for program improvement.

Area #3: Co-own CPA with Us

At CPA, we practice workplace democracy and sociocratic governance. That means we share power and responsibility—together.

    • Participate in team meetings and internal circles where we make decisions collaboratively.
    • Share your perspectives and creativity in helping shape how CPA operates.
    • Support other team members in moments where shared effort is needed—whether that’s an all-hands launch, a tight deadline, or showing up for a fellow team member’s project.

    Must Haves

    • Creative and persistent problem solving. You’re organized, adaptable and have a demonstrated ability to move projects from start to finish, even amidst complex challenges.
    • Attention to detail. You’re comfortable managing logistics and tracking multiple moving pieces.
    • Communication savvy. You are responsive and can clearly and professionally communicate with a wide range of people—from community leaders to contractors.
    • Values alignment. You care about equity and building an economy rooted in shared ownership and would thrive in a cooperative work environment.

    Location

We have a strong preference for candidates based in the Washington, DC metro region, with the ability to attend in-person meetings and site visits across the region. This is a remote-friendly role with regular in-person responsibilities.

    Our Hiring Values:

The Community Purchasing Alliance recognizes that in the US, legacies of oppression are perpetuated through, among other things, hiring practices. White people, men, straight people, and wealthy people are given access and preferentially hired into well paying, high-esteemed jobs over people of color, women, trans people, queer people, disabled people, displaced people, and poor and working class people. CPA is committed to participating in socially just hiring practices that counter these pressures. Through this practice we strive to maintain a cooperative make-up which values and centers the voices of those who have been historically excluded from positions of leadership and power.

We make an intentional effort to encourage and recruit a diverse applicant pool with regard to race, ethnicity, sex, gender, religion, age, ability, size, sexual orientation, marital status, familial status, economic status, class background, language, nation of origin, and documentation status.
