Community Purchasing Alliance Cooperative (CPA Co-op) is a social-purpose cooperative that helps community organizations—schools, congregations, and other nonprofits—negotiate better contracts for their facilities. We strive to lower operating costs so that they can spend more on their missions. At the same time, we work to shift contract spending to local, woman-owned, and BIPOC-owned vendors.
We’re looking for a mission-aligned manager to help grow and support two key areas of our work: security services and energy programs. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys project coordination, vendor engagement, and making real impact through values-aligned purchasing.
Areas of Responsibility
Area #1: Manage CPA’s DC Security Program
You will be the primary point of contact for CPA’s security service offerings in the DC region. You’ll work closely with the Member Engagement team and Operations team to coordinate service delivery, help members run successful RFPs (requests for proposals), and ensure ongoing satisfaction with vendors.
Area #2: Support CPA’s Energy Program
You will provide administrative and coordination support to the Energy Program Director, helping more community leaders come together for group energy contracts that aim to reduce energy costs, enable peer knowledge sharing, and build collective power.
Area #3: Co-own CPA with Us
At CPA, we practice workplace democracy and sociocratic governance. That means we share power and responsibility—together.
Must Haves

Our Hiring Values:
The Community Purchasing Alliance recognizes that in the US, legacies of oppression are perpetuated through, among other things, hiring practices. White people, men, straight people, and wealthy people are given access and preferentially hired into well paying, high-esteemed jobs over people of color, women, trans people, queer people, disabled people, displaced people, and poor and working class people. CPA is committed to participating in socially just hiring practices that counter these pressures. Through this practice we strive to maintain a cooperative make-up which values and centers the voices of those who have been historically excluded from positions of leadership and power.
We make an intentional effort to encourage and recruit a diverse applicant pool with regard to race, ethnicity, sex, gender, religion, age, ability, size, sexual orientation, marital status, familial status, economic status, class background, language, nation of origin, and documentation status.
