    Community and Psychosocial Resource Navigator (Full-Time)

    Location: TASSC International, Washington, DC

    Reports To: Executive Director

    Salary: $45,000–$55,000 (commensurate with experience)

    TASSC International (Torture Abolition and Survivors Support Coalition) is a human rights organization that supports and empowers survivors of torture from around the world. We provide trauma-informed, survivor-centered services that promote healing, advocacy, and community integration in a safe and inclusive environment.

    Position Summary

    TASSC is seeking a compassionate and trauma-informed Community and Psychosocial Resource Navigator to join our team. The Navigator will serve as a vital link between survivors and critical resources, including mental health care, housing, legal support, and community engagement programs. This role requires a culturally competent, organized, and emotionally intelligent professional with experience supporting immigrant and refugee populations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Direct Services & Case Management

    • Conduct comprehensive assessments, intakes, and orientations for new survivors.
    • Identify mental health and psychosocial needs and connect survivors with trauma-informed providers.
    • Provide individual therapy (if qualified), including assessment, treatment planning, and referrals.
    • Support survivors’ transition into empowerment and advocacy programs.

    Program Coordination

    • Develop and facilitate culturally responsive, trauma-informed practices, materials, and training.
    • Coordinate with the legal team to address survivors’ legal case needs.
    • Develop and facilitate orientation and educational sessions for clients.
    • Track outcomes, ensure timely documentation, and support program evaluation and grant reporting.

    Resource Navigation & Community Engagement

    • Build and maintain referral networks with local agencies (e.g., housing, food, healthcare).
    • Share timely updates on resources with staff and survivors.
    • Train internal staff and partners on trauma-informed, culturally competent service delivery.
    • Create and implement procedures for intake, emergency response, and service standards.

    Supervision & Leadership

    • Supervise social work interns, volunteers, and/or clinical case managers.
    • Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to support recruitment, training, and retention.
    • Participate in interdisciplinary case consultations and organizational planning efforts.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work or a related field.
    • Minimum of 2 years of case management experience with immigrants, refugees, or forcibly displaced populations.
    • Deep understanding of trauma and experience working in trauma-informed environments.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced, high-demand settings.
    • Proficiency in documentation systems, databases, and community mapping tools.
    • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Licensed to provide clinical therapy (or working toward licensure).
    • Fluency in a second language, especially Amharic, French, or Arabic.
    • Experience supervising interns, volunteers, or clinical staff.
    • Strong research, communication, and crisis intervention skills.
    • High emotional intelligence, adaptability, and a sense of humor.

    Compensation & Benefits

    Salary:

    $45,000–$55,000/year (based on experience)
