    Position Summary:

    The Director of Programs will develop and sustain high-quality recreational and community-based programs that advance EKC’s mission to create accessible, judgment-free spaces where neurodivergent young people, their friends, and families can connect, play, and thrive. This leader will center lived experience, cultural humility, and trauma-informed practice in all aspects of program design and delivery. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Programs is a key member of EKC’s leadership team. They will translate organizational vision into actionable, high-impact programs while building, mentoring, and supporting a growing program staff. Success in this role requires strong people management skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, evolving organization.

    Position Details:

    • Status: Part-time, 20 hours per week
    • Compensation: $40,000–$48,000 annually
    • Location: Hybrid, based in Brooklyn
    • Schedule: Occasional evening and weekend hours required

    This role requires initiative, flexibility, and excellent time management to meet the needs of a growing organization and diverse community.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Leadership & Team Management:

    • Supervise, coach, and mentor program staff, fostering professional growth, accountability, and retention.
    • Build and sustain a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture grounded in collaboration, trust, and shared values.
    • Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional development for program staff and facilitators.
    • Ensure staff are equipped to work effectively and respectfully with neurodivergent youth and families across a range of identities and lived experiences.
    • Collaborate closely with the Executive Director to align program priorities with organizational strategy and growth goals.

    Program Development & Strategy:

    • Design, implement, and manage a multi-year program strategy and annual program calendar that supports both virtual and in-person offerings.
    • Expand program capacity to serve a growing number of participants across New York City.
    • Ensure programs are responsive, accessible, and informed by participant feedback, data, and community voice.
    • Partner with internal teams to develop new initiatives that advance EKC’s mission while supporting long-term sustainability.

    Community Partnerships & External Relations:

    • Cultivate and manage relationships with community partners, including the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, schools, arts organizations, and other program collaborators.
    • Collaborate with community leaders to ensure programming remains relevant, culturally responsive, and community-informed.
    • Represent EKC in external meetings, community forums, and partnership discussions as needed.

    Program Administration & Operations:

    • Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the Director of Finance and Executive Director.
    • Oversee vendor, site, and contractor relationships to ensure smooth and safe program operations.
    • Ensure compliance with funder requirements, partner agreements, and applicable regulatory standards.
    • Coordinate program evaluation efforts and use insights to strengthen program design and outcomes.
    • Track and analyze program participation data to inform reporting, evaluation, and strategic decision-making.

    Skills & Qualifications Required:

    • 3–5 years of demonstrated nonprofit program development and leadership experience.
    • Knowledge of or experience working with the disability and/or neurodivergent community.
    • Strong staff management, coaching, and team-building skills.
    • Strategic, creative problem-solver with the ability to adapt to evolving organizational priorities.
    • Excellent project management, organizational, and time-management skills.
    • Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse racial, cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Skills & Qualifications Desired:

    • Familiarity with nonprofit budgeting and collaboration on grant-funded programs.
    • Experience working across all five boroughs of New York City.
    • Experience facilitating meetings and building community relationships.
    • Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin.
