    Descrição

    Overview

The Outreach and Marketing Coordinator plays a key role in advancing NHSNYC’s visibility, partnerships, and community presence across New York City. This role requires a dynamic communicator and skilled marketer who brings both field presence and hands-on content creation capabilities - someone who goes beyond soft skills to deliver measurable results.

Primary focus: Marketing and communications responsibilities, fulfilled in-house, that support promotion of NHSNYC programs and outreach efforts.

Secondary focus: Community outreach, relationship-building, and representation of NHSNYC at neighborhood, civic, and partner-facing events.

Within the first 6–12 months, the successful candidate will:

    • Provide reliable marketing and communications support that keeps outreach efforts visible and on schedule.
    • Produce compelling marketing content including short-form videos, graphics, and written materials that support outreach across multiple channels.
    • Be viewed internally as a trusted, organized, and proactive connector between the field and the office.
    • Establish strong working relationships with community partners in priority neighborhoods.
    • Represent NHSNYC consistently at outreach events, demonstrating confident public speaking and clear organizational messaging.
    • Ensure outreach activities are well-coordinated, tracked, and reported.

This role is designed for a candidate who combines strong oral and written communication skills with real marketing and content creation experience. The ideal candidate is comfortable presenting to groups, producing multimedia content, and using data to track what’s working.

    Key Responsibilities

    Marketing, Content Creation & Communications

Note: This role supports marketing execution and coordination; it does not lead marketing strategy, campaign design, or brand development.

    • Create original content including short-form videos (for internal communications, community presentations, event recaps, and partner use — not solely for social media), graphics, flyers, and written materials.
    • Use Canva, Adobe Suite, or comparable tools to design visually compelling outreach materials.
    • Assist with formatting, proofreading, and scheduling of social media posts and digital outreach.
    • Maintain the marketing calendar and ensure outreach-related deliverables are completed on time.
    • Support event promotion efforts across digital and community channels.
    • Use analytics tools to track content performance and engagement; share insights to inform strategy.
    • Coordinate and lead virtual meetings and webinars using Zoom or similar platforms.

    Community Outreach & Engagement

    • Represent NHSNYC in alignment with organizational messaging and priorities, including public-facing presentations and speaking engagements.
    • Build and maintain working relationships with community-based organizations, civic associations, faith institutions, offices of elected officials, and local partners.
    • Capture photos and short videos at events for promotional and archival use; upload assets to shared archives.
    • Coordinate with internal teams to support and track outreach activities aligned with organizational priorities.
    • Document and share community insights, trends, and partnership opportunities with leadership and internal stakeholders.
    • Assist with coordinating meetings, site visits, and special events involving external partners.

    Coordination, Tracking & Reporting

    • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, contacts, and event participation using Excel and related tools.
    • Manage calendars related to community events and external engagements.
    • Prepare summary reports on outreach activities, community needs, and engagement outcomes.
    • Support partnership development and limited fundraising-related coordination tied to community and government initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Affairs, Urban Studies, Political Science, Community Development, or a related field.
    • Experience: 2+ years in community engagement, outreach, marketing, public service, or nonprofit work (external sales, internships, and volunteer experience considered).
    • Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills; professional, clear, and persuasive across formats. Demonstrated comfort with public speaking and representing an organization to groups and external partners.
    • Content Creation: Demonstrated ability to produce short-form videos including scripting, shooting, and editing as well as graphics and written copy for audiences beyond social media.
    • Marketing Tools: Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Canva and/or Adobe Suite, and Zoom.
    • Analytics: Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., social media insights, Google Analytics, or similar); able to track outcomes and use data to refine efforts.
    • Organization & Judgment: Manages time, priorities, and information effectively; maintains accurate records; handles routine issues independently and escalates when needed.
    • Flexibility & Collaboration: Adapts well to changing priorities in a dynamic environment; works effectively across internal teams and with external partners.
    • Ability to travel frequently throughout all five NYC boroughs; availability for occasional evening and weekend events.

    Preferred (but not required)

    • Familiarity with NYC housing issues, community development, or local government structures.
    • Experience supporting engagement with elected officials, community boards, or grassroots organizations.
    • Fluency in a second language commonly spoken in NYC (e.g., Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mandarin, Bengali).
    • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
