    Descrição

    Reporting to the Director & CEO and working closely with Head of the Modern Library and Head of Prints and Photographs, the Digital Projects Coordinator will manage the end-to-end processing of digital materials for public access. Working closely with the photographer, the coordinator will oversee the capture of archival material, the post-production, metadata creation, quality control, and ingestion into the digital asset management system (DAMS). The coordinator will also participate directly in the digitization of collection materials, including operating camera equipment to create high-quality digital images. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with experience in digitization and an interest in digital preservation workflows. The position is grant funded for one year.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operate camera and imaging equipment to digitize a range of archival and library materials.
    • Collaborate with the photographer to ensure consistent imaging standards and workflows.
    • Conduct post-capture processing, including editing, cropping, color correction, and file preparation.
    • Create and edit metadata according to institutional and national standards.
    • Ingest digital assets and metadata into the DAMS.
    • Define, design, and maintain organized digital file structures and documentation.
    • Perform quality control checks on images and metadata to ensure accuracy and consistency.
    • Prepare project updates and assist with grant-related documentation.
    • Stay current with digitization best practices and preservation standards.
    • Coordinate with curatorial, conservation, and other departments as needed.
    • Perform other duties related to digital projects as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Archival Studies, Photography, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
    • Prior experience in a library, archive, or museum digitization project.
    • Hands-on experience with digitizing archival or paper-based materials using photography.
    • Knowledge of metadata standards such as Dublin Core, MARC, or EAD.
    • Familiarity with camera equipment, lighting, and digitization workflows.
    • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge or equivalent imaging software.
    • Experience with metadata creation and DAMS (e.g. CONTENTdm, Archipelago)
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience handling rare or fragile archival materials.
    • Familiarity with FADGI guidelines or other digitization standards.
      • Coding capabilities preferred.
      • Experience with tab-delimited files preferred.
    • Knowledge of rights management and copyright issues related to digital surrogates preferred

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to handle delicate materials safely
    • Ability to perform tasks requiring standing, sitting, or fine manual work for extended periods
