Philanthropy & Community Engagement Associate

Capital Camps & Retreat Center is seeking a creative, organized, and relationship-driven Philanthropy & Community Engagement Associate to help strengthen Jewish community, expand access to camp, and grow meaningful engagement with families, alumni, and supporters.

About Capital Camps & Retreat Center

Capital Camps & Retreat Center (CCRC) provides transformative Jewish overnight camp and retreat experiences for children, families, and communities across the Mid-Atlantic region. In addition to summer camp, the Retreat Center hosts year-round programs for organizations, families, and community groups, serving thousands of participants annually. The agency’s administrative offices are located in Rockville, Maryland, with its camp and retreat center situated in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.

What You’ll Do

This role combines fundraising, communications, events, relationship-building, and project management. No two days look exactly the same.

Community Engagement & Fundraising

• Help execute fundraising campaigns and community engagement initiatives
• Support donor, parent, alumni, and community outreach efforts
• Assist with stewardship and relationship-building across multiple audiences
• Support peer-to-peer fundraising and volunteer engagement projects
• Create meaningful donor experiences and personalized communications
• Spearhead a new alumni engagement initiative in conjunction with Capital Camps & Retreat Center’s upcoming 40th anniversary celebration, helping reconnect alumni and strengthen long-term community relationships

Communications & Storytelling

• Draft emails, social media content, acknowledgements, and campaign materials
• Partner with the marketing team on donor-facing communications and storytelling
• Help maintain consistent messaging and outreach across platforms
• Support alumni engagement initiatives and special campaigns

Events & Experiences

• Assist with donor events, alumni gatherings, and summer camp visits
• Coordinate logistics, communications, scheduling, and follow-up
• Create welcoming and engaging experiences for supporters and guests

Operations & Organization

• Maintain donor and alumni records in Raiser’s Edge
• Process gifts and acknowledgements with accuracy and attention to detail
• Prepare reports, mailing lists, and campaign tracking materials
• Ensure fundraising systems and projects run smoothly behind the scenes

Growth & Collaboration

• Work closely with senior organizational leadership
• Contribute ideas and creative solutions
• Participate in special projects that strengthen community engagement and philanthropy
• Grow professionally within a collaborative and mission-driven team

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 1–3 years of professional experience preferred in nonprofit work, communications, fundraising, marketing, events, education, or related fields
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects
• Comfortable learning new systems and technology
• Experience with Canva, social media, or email platforms is a plus
• Experience with Raiser’s Edge or CRM systems is helpful but not required
• Interest in nonprofit leadership, philanthropy, and Jewish community building
• Positive, collaborative, and proactive mindset

Work Environment & Schedule

• Based in Rockville, Maryland (Monday–Friday) from September through May
• Approximately 3-4 days per week at camp in Waynesboro, PA during the summer
• Occasional evening and weekend events

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $48,000–$52,000, commensurate with experience
