Pay: $98,000-$106,000, commensurate with experience

Position Overview
The Senior Director of Parenting Education & Training serves as a strategic member of Family Nurturing Center’s Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for leading the organization’s parenting education, father engagement, training, curriculum, and technical assistance portfolio. This individual provides strategic and operational leadership to the managers, specialists, training staff, and facilitators responsible for delivering high-quality parenting education and professional learning services.
The Senior Director will partner closely with organizational leadership and external stakeholders to strengthen program quality, expand FNC’s training and technical assistance reach, and position the organization as a recognized leader in parenting education, father engagement, family strengthening, and professional learning. The portfolio of this role exceeds $1 million in revenue annually.

The successful candidate will demonstrate subject matter expertise, strategic thinking, and organizational leadership abilities. They will be able to translate evidence and practice into effective curriculum and learning experiences, assess and prioritize a complex portfolio of programs and training offerings, develop and coach high-performing teams, establish systems for quality and accountability, and represent FNC credibly with public agencies, community organizations, professional networks, funders, and practitioners.
The successful candidate will help FNC strengthen the quality of its own programs while expanding FNC’s role as a statewide resource for parenting education, father engagement, family strengthening, professional learning, and technical assistance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Organizational & Strategic Leadership
- Serve as a member of Family Nurturing Center’s Executive Team, partnering with the Executive Director and Board of Directors on organizational strategy, program direction, growth, and organizational development.
- Translate organizational strategy into clear program priorities, operating plans, outcomes, and accountability structures.
- Lead organizational change and continuous improvement efforts that strengthen program quality, organizational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.
- Represent FNC with funders, public agencies, community leaders, professional networks, and other external stakeholders.
Program, Curriculum & Training Infrastructure Leadership
- Provide strategic oversight of FNC's Parenting Education & Training portfolio, ensuring alignment with mission, strategic priorities, community needs, and emerging opportunities.
- Serve as the organizational lead for FNC’s Nurturing Parenting curriculum and related evidence-based parenting education approaches, ensuring fidelity, quality, appropriate adaptation, and consistent standards of practice across programs and training.
- Maintain systems to track and support trainers and facilitator qualifications, certifications, credentials, continuing education and the professional development necessary to sustain FNCs internal and external training capacity.
- Balance strategic leadership with meaningful engagement in program delivery, including training, facilitation, and professional learning.
- Use research, evaluation, participant and community feedback, and program data to strengthen practice and determine when programs should be expanded, redesigned, integrated, or sunset.
Financial Stewardship, Risk & Performance
- Provide oversight of a $1 million+ portfolio, including budgeting, financial performance, contracts, grants, compliance, and resource allocation in partnership with Finance and the Executive Director.
- Partner with the Director of People and Culture to advance staff development, professional growth, and programmatic effectiveness by creating clarity around roles and performance expectations, aligning individualized development plans with organizational priorities, and embedding consistent coaching, feedback, and compassionate accountability practices that build staff capacity and performance.
- Identify and manage programmatic, financial, operational, staffing, compliance, and reputational risks, escalating significant risks and opportunities appropriately.
- Ensure responsible stewardship of restricted and unrestricted resources and compliance with funder, contractual, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
Advancement, Partnerships & Resource Development
- Partner closely with the Senior Director of Advancement and the Executive Director to cultivate funders and secure grants, contracts, philanthropic support, and other resources that sustain and grow the program portfolio.
- Provide programmatic leadership for proposals, funder presentations, reports, impact communications, and other development activities.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with public agencies, community organizations, educational institutions, healthcare providers, statewide networks, and other stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for fee-for-service training, technical assistance, contracts, and other earned-revenue strategies that advance FNC's mission.
Team Leadership & Organizational Capacity
- Build and lead a high-performing program team through thoughtful recruitment, hiring, onboarding, supervision, coaching, professional development, performance management, and succession planning.
- Partner with the Director of People and culture to ensure that Nurturing Foundations and other core mission-based learning is incorporated into employee onboarding and ongoing professional development so that staff across the agency apply the nurturing philosophy, values and approach.
- Ensure staffing and organizational capacity are aligned with the scope, complexity, and financial sustainability of the program portfolio.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, accountable, and mission-driven culture while empowering staff to lead.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Human Development, Psychology, Counseling, Public Administration/Health, Nonprofit Management, Adult Education, or related field.
- Seven or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in nonprofit, human services, education, family support, parenting education, or a related field, including significant experience leading teams and complex programs.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex programs or portfolios, including significant budget, grant, contract, compliance, and risk-management responsibilities.
- Experience hiring, developing, supervising, and retaining managers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum design and development, program implementation, evaluation, training, professional learning, or technical assistance.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively at both the strategic organizational level and the hands-on program delivery level.
- Experience partnering with Advancement, Development, Funders, or external partners to secure and sustain program resources.
- Experience communicating program strategy, impact, financial considerations, opportunities, and risks to senior leaders, Boards, funders, and external stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking, financial management, communication, facilitation, relationship-building, and organizational leadership skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, trauma-informed practice, and family-centered approaches.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience implementing, facilitating, training, or overseeing evidence-informed parenting education curricula; experience with Nurturing Parenting Programs or comparable family strengthening model strongly preferred.
- Experience maintaining trainer/facilitator credentialing, certification, fidelity, or professional development systems across a multi-program organization.
- Experience working directly with a nonprofit Board of Directors or Board committees.
- Experience leading organizational development, strategic planning, change management, or organizational effectiveness initiatives.
- Experience managing a portfolio of approximately $1 million or more.
- Experience with funder cultivation, major grant development, public-sector contracting, or earned-revenue development.
- Experience working within nonprofit human services organizations and/or statewide systems.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position with a regular onsite presence required to support staff, programs, community partnerships, and organizational priorities. The Senior Director will work across FNC locations, including Dorchester, Hyde Park, Chelsea, and Allston-Brighton, with the specific schedule determined by programmatic, staff, and community needs. Travel between FNC locations and community partner sites is required. Occasional evening and weekend hours are also required to support programs, meetings, community events, and other organizational priorities.
