The Deputy Director of Services is a senior leadership role responsible for strengthening CUFFH’s program infrastructure, managing staff, and advancing housing justice in our communities. The Deputy Director of Services will be responsible for administrative tasks and logistics behind all direct service programming; this position will manage the Constituent Services Specialist team and be supervised by the Director of Services. Working closely with the Director of Services, this role supports the development and execution of departmental programs, builds partnerships, and ensures robust service delivery to members of the community.
At the core of this position is a commitment to empower tenants against displacement, improve housing conditions, and advocate for community members to access long-term affordable housing. This role centers on advocating for tenant rights; developing grassroots leadership; leading community based workshops and events; and advancing tenant-led campaigns.
The Deputy Director also plays a critical role in program design, data systems, and evaluation, ensuring that CUFFH’s services are strategic, measurable, and scalable. This includes overseeing key programs—such as weekly services and community leadership initiatives—and ensuring their effective implementation and alignment with organizational priorities. The Deputy Director assumes leadership in the absence of the Director of Services and supports the long-term growth of CUFFH’s services department and membership base. The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assists with the administration and logistics of all direct service programming
- Provide administrative support, correspondence, and meeting coordination
- Oversees a team of Constituent Services Specialists (who interact with clients)
- Follow provided budget for events and keep expenses at or below given parameters
- Orchestrates the services and trains the team on how to deliver said services
- Explains programs offered by CUFFH to Specialists in order for them to promote
- Works with service providers to organize and schedule sessions
- Leads community engagement and memberships initiatives
- Manages the deliverables tracking and monitors them in line with the company budget and fundraising
- Provide leadership to the organization in order to produce exceptional programs and high quality program delivery
- Lead field staff with integrity and provide a strong foundation for the organization's future by maintaining excellent partner relations, implementing financially sound practices and delivering quality curriculum in a safe program environment
- Support the Director of Services with contract reports to city and state agencies
- Support with fundraising efforts
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred; a combination of education and experience will be considered
- 2-5 years participating in an organizing campaign, advocacy or other relevant experience
- Belief in community organizing as a means to improve community development
- Willingness to participate in a commitment to social justice
- Experience working in low-income urban communities
- Ability to serve as a credible source of knowledge and information to community members who desire to be more involved and educated on various efforts
- Ability to work collaboratively with organizations providing technical assistance to the effort
- Ability to utilize online organizing tools and social media
- Ability to multitask many different activities and remain organized
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- This position requires a primarily in-person schedule, including regular fieldwork, canvassing, and meetings with tenants and community members. Some administrative tasks may be completed remotely on a flexible hybrid basis.
