Downtown Weatherford, Inc. is a nonprofit 501c3 organization dedicated to advancing the vitality, economic
development, and community spirit of Weatherford’s downtown district. Through strategic partnerships, events, and
advocacy, the organization supports local businesses, enhances the downtown experience, and preserves the unique
character of the community.
Position Summary
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive leader of Downtown Weatherford, Inc. and reports directly to the
Board of Directors. This role provides strategic direction, oversees daily operations, ensures strong financial
stewardship, and leads community engagement and resource development efforts. The Executive Director works
closely with downtown merchants, volunteers, sponsors, city partners, and community stakeholders to advance the
organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership
- Implement the mission and strategic priorities established by the Board of Directors
- Maintain consistent and transparent communication with the Board and its committees
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit governance standards and organizational policies
- Oversee contractors, vendors, and volunteers
Financial Stewardship & Management
- Develop and manage the annual operating budget in collaboration with the Board Treasurer
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and fiscal accountability
- Monitor financial activities to identify risks and ensure appropriate use of funds
- Prepare and present monthly financial reports including Profit & Loss statements, year-to-date reports, and balance
sheets
- Coordinate financial reporting with the Treasurer and Financial Committee
Funding & Resource Development
- Lead sponsorship development and fundraising initiatives
- Support or oversee grant writing activities
- Develop and maintain a donor base for monetary and non-monetary resources
- Create and maintain a donor tracking system
- Cultivate and manage relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners
Administration & Operations
- Provide overall management of the organization and daily operations
- Develop efficient systems, processes, and procedures
- Manage multiple initiatives and priorities simultaneously
Policy Development
- Review, develop, and recommend policies and procedures
- Present significant policy changes to the Board for review and approval
Board & Community Relations
- Maintain open and productive relationships with Board members
- Support Board recruitment efforts by engaging potential Board members
- Serve as an ambassador for Downtown Weatherford, Inc. within the community
- Serve as primary liaison to the City of Weatherford, maintaining productive relationships with City Council,
municipal leadership, and relevant departments to advance the organization’s mission
Qualifications
- Three to five years of management experience in nonprofit or for-profit organizations
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience building relationships and recruiting/managing volunteers
- Strong financial management including thorough knowledge of budgets, P&L and Balance Sheets
- Excellent fundraising, and program planning skills
- Extensive community network and strong public relations abilities
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management systems
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives
- Knowledge of community resources and local leadership
- Must be available on weekends, evenings and some holidays
- This position is not a work from home position
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
