    Position Overview

    Status: Full Time Exempt, Salaried

    Salary: $60,000-65,000 annual salary, paid monthly

    Working Conditions: Full-Time, Hybrid, located in the Washington, DC metropolitan region, 35hrs/wk. Occasional Domestic Travel, Technical Setup Provided (Laptop, Monitor, Accessories)

    Position Description

    The Senior Associate will support the Hub’s Director in working with the local building community to identify and overcome barriers to achieving high-performance buildings in the Washington, DC metropolitan region. The Senior Associate will contribute to creating and promoting resources, educational programming, blogs, newsletter content, and social media strategy. The Senior Associate will also assist with building stakeholder and community engagement, including but not limited to projects such as the Hub’s “Success with BEPS” program, a service that provides support to buildings subject to the DC BEPS. The Senior Associate will help plan in-person and virtual events hosted and co-hosted by the Hub, as well as attend and present at external events representing the Hub.

    The Senior Associate will also support activities of IMT’s Building Performance Partnership (BPP) program, a national network of hubs serving their respective regions while benefitting from the existing resources and expertise of their peers. This program is designed to deliver policy compliance support and innovative leadership practices to real estate stakeholders in jurisdictions pursuing Building Performance Standards (BPS) and also for those jurisdictions that may not have BPS but have aggressive climate/decarbonization goals. The Building Innovation Hub is a founding member of the BPP.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop strong understanding of DC and Maryland regional policies, including building codes and Building Energy Performance Standards, and be able to communicate strategies for compliance and implementation.
    • Create written narrative, templates, and content for resources, tools, and presentation materials, and make updates to maintain existing resources as needed. Integrate visuals and video to broaden accessibility of materials.
    • Contribute to outreach efforts including email campaigns, newsletters, website, and social media posts.
    • Attend industry and community events to represent and promote the Hub, with occasional public speaking role.
    • Support in-person and virtual event planning for the Hub including preparing materials and coordinating event details internally and with external partners.
    • Facilitate conversations among building stakeholders through informational sessions on building performance standards and related topics and follow up with attendees on outcomes.
    • Develop partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, real estate service companies, real estate industry organizations, and trade associations as needed.
    • Coordinate with members of the Building Performance Partnership on potential resource sharing and collaboration and assist with administrative duties.
    • Manage assigned projects including planning, reporting, and ensuring project deadlines and deliverables are met.
    • Assist with program metrics, reporting, and summary of activities as needed.
    • Other administrative duties as assigned.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Undergraduate degree and 3-5 years of relevant work experience in clean energy, real estate, design, construction, facilities, sustainability, or other related field
    • Highly organized, with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines
    • Strong problem-solving, research and analytical skills
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Proficiency in presenting information clearly and effectively
    • Flexible and comfortable with some ambiguity, and a team player
    • Values relationships and uplifting community voices

    How to Apply

    This role requires hybrid work (approximately twice a week at office) and occasional domestic travel at less than 10% of their time. Applicants must be located within the Washington, DC metropolitan region at the time of employment. Only candidates with valid U.S. work authorization will be considered.     The salary range for this position is $60,000 – $65,000, commensurate with experience. IMT offers a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance and disability coverage. IMT also offers generous paid time-off.
