    About PWC

The Pilipino Workers Center of Southern California (PWC) aims to secure the dignity and safety

of the Pilipinx community in Southern California and build labor leaders in the domestic worker

industry. PWCSC, founded in 1997, has been organizing homecare workers for social justice,

economic justice and dignity for more than two decades, and has offices and operates in Los

Angeles County, Orange County, and San Diego. PWCSC also operates a national anti-labor

trafficking program that serves survivors in 26 states. Originally founded to address the

substandard working conditions and wage theft experienced by mostly immigrant Pilipinx

homecare workers in Southern California, PWC builds power to advance fundamental shifts in

the care economy that benefit the immigrant domestic and care workforce as an affiliate of the

National Domestic Workers Alliance and the California Domestic Worker Coalition.

    Job Summary:

The Cultural Jeepney Driver is an integral part of the popular PWC Historic Filipino (HiFi) Town guided tours and community events. The Cultural Jeepney Driver is dependable, safety-focused, and culturally respectful, while playing an important role in showcasing Filipino heritage while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all passengers. This role is more than driving—it’s about helping bring Filipino history and culture to life in Los Angeles. You will be part of a project that supports cultural awareness, community pride, and meaningful local tourism.

    Key Responsibilities:

The Cultural Jeepney Driver will be responsible for the professional operation and care of the PWC jeepney, including but not limited to:

    • Transporting guests during guided tours, cultural events, and special community activities
    • Performing basic pre-drive inspections (fuel, oil, tires, lights, brakes, cleanliness) before each assignment
    • Facilitating and coordinating fuel refills before or during scheduled use
    • Monitoring the jeepney’s overall physical condition during operations and promptly reporting any mechanical or safety issues
    • Maintaining the jeepney in a clean, presentable, and culturally respectful condition
    • Ensuring the jeepney’s safe return to designated PWC premises after every assignment
    • Coordinating professionally with PWC staff, consultants, tour guides, and event organizers
    • Supporting a positive guest experience through courteous, patient, and respectful conduct

    Required Qualifications:

    • Valid California driver’s license (must be current)
    • Good driving record (no major violations; verification may be required)
    • Proven ability to drive manual transmission vehicles, preferably jeepneys or similar specialty vehicles
    • Willing and available to work weekends and occasional holidays
    • Demonstrated good moral character, professionalism, and reliability
    • Comfortable driving in urban traffic, community streets, and event environments
    • Ability to follow safety protocols, schedules, and instructions
    • Punctual, calm under pressure, and guest-service oriented

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience driving tour vehicles, shuttles, or specialty vehicles
    • Familiarity with Historic Filipinotown or Los Angeles tourist routes
    • Interest in Filipino culture, heritage, or community engagement
    • Basic mechanical awareness (not repair work, but awareness of vehicle condition)

    Important Expectations:

    • Safety is the highest priority at all times
    • Zero tolerance for impaired, reckless, or distracted driving
    • Professional appearance and respectful interaction with guests and community members
    • Must be able to follow set routes, timelines, and event procedures
