    Descrição

    Who we are

Food for Climate League is a trailblazing, women-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to make climate-smart food choices the norm. We do this by using narrative and behavioral sciences to connect sustainable foods to people's diverse needs, values, and cultures. FCL focuses on influencing the most critical stakeholders who significantly impact both supply and demand within the food system. From corporate kitchens to national campaigns and from individual chefs to global foodservice executives, we shift perceptions and behaviors with empathy-centered interventions that consider systems-wide change and ensure long-term impact.

    Position Overview

We're seeking a temporary Program Manager to lead multiple client- and grant-based systems change projects from July 2025 through January 2026, with the possibility of extension to permanent. In this role, you’ll manage cross-functional teams that include researchers, content designers, content creators, and partner organizations. You’ll lead meetings, synthesize strategic direction, and provide clarity across all participants. As the primary point of contact for key external partners, you’ll build trust, manage expectations, and translate vision into actionable plans.

If you're a solution-oriented leader motivated by mission, energized by complexity, and skilled in strategic orchestration, we’d love to meet you.

    Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Strategic Coordination (35%)

    • Define timelines, deliverables, and impact goals in collaboration with directors and team leads
    • Maintain visibility of tasks, timelines, and deliverables across workstreams for the team and management; proactively identify risks, trade-offs, and opportunities for adjustment
    • Adapt plans in real time using data, team insights, and external context to guide decision-making and ensure program success

Stakeholder Leadership & External Communication (30%)

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for external partners and collaborators
    • Build trust-based relationships and lead communications around progress, priorities, and pivots
    • Represent FCL and the program in external meetings, presentations, and strategic discussions

    Cross-Team Collaboration & Contributor Coordination (25%)

    • Coordinate internal teams and contractors including researchers, content designers, and communication experts
    • Provide clarity on roles, expectations, and timelines while fostering autonomy and accountability
    • Lead inclusive, engaging meetings that clarify direction, surface needs, and keep momentum strong

Learning, Feedback & Organizational Growth (10%).

    • Cultivate a feedback-rich culture grounded in mutual respect and psychological safety
    • Identify patterns across projects and help shape practices, tools, and systems that strengthen our effectiveness
    • Support team growth by modeling adaptive thinking, independence, and continuous learning

We’re Looking for Someone Who Is...

    • Strategic & Systems-Oriented: You see how pieces connect, anticipate challenges, and make decisions in context.
    • Agile & Adaptive: You can pivot gracefully in ambiguity and still create clarity for others
    • Stakeholder-Savvy: You build trust quickly and know how to manage complex relationships over time
    • Collaborative & Empowering: You hold structure, but don’t control; you invite others into ownership
    • Action-Oriented & Self-Directed: You take initiative, move work forward independently, and seek clarification when needed
    • Curious & Constructive: You give and receive feedback thoughtfully, and you're always learning

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience in program management roles, ideally in non-profit or large-scale foodservice settings
    • Experience managing multi-stakeholder programs, ideally in or adjacent to food systems, public health, education, or community development
    • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Proficiency with agile project management approaches and tools
    • Comfort navigating complexity, ambiguity, and systems-level problem-solving
    • Proficiency in Google platforms, Asana, and Slack
    • Commitment to working collaboratively with a small team of motivated individuals

The negative impacts of climate and nutrition access disproportionately impact the most marginalized people in society, including people of color, people from working class backgrounds, women, and LGBTQ people. Because we believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or who are members of other marginalized communities.
