    The Hopewell Museum is seeking a Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts as the museum continues to grow. The Director of Development will be an active fundraiser, enhance revenue through individual and corporate partnerships, and write grant applications. We want a Director of Development who feels free to explore ideas that advance this position's goals while also serving as a collaborator in museum affairs and programming. This position reports to the Executive Director.

    The Hopewell Museum tells the history of the Hopewell Valley and all who have lived there. Some of our collection dates back 10,000 years to the first indigenous people who called Hopewell home. Our collections consist of Neolithic tools, antique china, glass, silver, pewter, furniture, militaria, and a large textile collection, among other objects. The Museum is active in the community, runs regular programming, and maintains strong relationships with community partners.

    Responsibilities:

    • Build, manage, and support fundraising and development campaigns
    • Research corporate, foundation, and individual prospects, including giving priorities,

    application guidelines, geographic focus, and leadership biographies.

    • Record research and grant-making activities in a donor database and server files.
    • Oversee annual giving campaigns, assist with organizational fundraising and institutional

    advancement activities, and provide support for fundraising event logistics.

    • Create, manage, and maintain donor profiles, membership programs, fundraising, and gift

    records in an electronic donor database.

    • Build and maintain long-term donor relationships, including strategy, networking, and follow-up.
    • Work with the donors to develop a relationship with the organization and move

    them up the donor pyramid.

    • Ensure gift documentation and related files are handled securely, and that accurate records

    are maintained.

    • Manage acknowledgment letters and provide support and outreach to current and

    potential donors.

    • Prepare grant proposals and performance reports to corporate, foundation, and

    government funders, with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum five years of professional development experience with a nonprofit organization,

    preferably a museum or other cultural institution, with proven experience in database

    management.

    • Must possess outstanding written and oral communication and public speaking skills
    • Demonstrated experience with a capital campaign
    • Demonstrated expertise working with a CRM/fundraising database such as Little Green

    Light, Raiser’s Edge, Donor Perfect, or similar.

    • Excellent computer skills, including internet search and Microsoft Office, QuickBooks,

    Constant Contact.

    • Experience with varied methods of generating financial support for nonprofit organizations

    (individual, private, government, and corporate; planned giving, donor-advised funds,

    revenue-generating programs, etc.)

    • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills
    • Must maintain donor confidentiality always.
    • Ability to think strategically and understand strategic development
    • Ability to work in a collaborative environment while also functioning autonomously
    • Some nights/weekend hours are required.
