Frontline Women’s Fund (FWF) is recruiting a Fundraising Lead to join a small team and take primary responsibility for advancing the organization’s fundraising strategy. The Fundraising Lead will serve as a point of coordination and responsibility for fundraising to support the grantees of its five funds (the Efua Dorkenoo Fund to End Female Genital Mutilation, the Gloria Steinem Equality Fund to End Sex Trafficking, the Jane Fonda Gender and Climate Justice Fund, the Fund to End Gender-Based Violence and the Fund for Women, Peace and Security), as well as the organization’s general operations. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining relationships with foundations, major donors, and crowdsourced online donors, as well as spearheading fundraising events and other special fundraising initiatives.
We are looking for someone who is committed to the advancement of women’s rights around the world and shares our understanding of the need to prioritize fundraising for disproportionately underfunded frontline women’s groups.
The Fundraising Lead must have excellent writing skills, effective interpersonal skills for interactions with donors, and strong organizational skills for planning, follow up, and record keeping and familiarity with Salesforce. Salary range $60-80k depending on experience.
This is a hybrid role (2-days in office) based in New York City.

Key Responsibilities
The Fundraising Lead reports to the Director of Operations and Special Initiatives and collaborates regularly with the Director of Partners and Funds and the Communications/Media Lead.
The Fundraising Lead is responsible for developing and implementing FWF’s fundraising strategy and raising funds for FWF and its Partners and Funds through institutional grants and individual donors. In collaboration with the Director and senior staff, the Fundraising Lead helps establish, revise, and execute the annual development plan, including setting and achieving fundraising targets from individual donors and identifying and securing grants from foundations and other institutional funders.
The responsibilities of the Fundraising Lead are:
Institutional Grant Funding
- Identify and develop a list of viable, highly aligned opportunities for grant funding from foundations and other institutions.
- Prepare meeting briefs (to be shared in advance with Director and senior staff) when meeting with institutions, including agendas and other miscellaneous communications collateral.
- Support Director in meetings with institutions (existing funders and prospective funders).
- Draft and submit grant applications and grant reports.
- Propose strategies to organizational leadership for cultivation and stewardship of FWF’s institutional funders.
Individual Giving
- Conduct prospect research on individual donors to grow the organization’s mid and major donor communities.
- Major donors:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a major donor program, including
- supporting the Director’s major donor relations and outreach (follow-up, acknowledgements, etc.)
- identifying and developing a pipeline of major gift prospects.
- Prepare meeting briefs (to be shared in advance with Director and senior staff) for donor meetings, including agendas and other miscellaneous communications collateral.
- Lead meetings or, when appropriate, support Director in meetings with donors.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a major donor program, including
- Develop, together with Director and senior staff, a plan for engaging the board in fundraising.
- Propose strategies to organizational leadership for cultivation and stewardship of FWF’s major donors and prospects.
Annual Fund
- Work with communications staff to develop creative and mission-focused fundraising messaging across multiple channels and on various platforms.
- Lead the planning and execution of annual and large-scale fundraising campaigns, including year-end digital and direct mail appeals.
Development Operations
- Ensure accurate and timely gift entry and other donor data, including acknowledgements, prospect research, notes on major donor calls and meetings, and next-steps and tasks.
- Lead on capturing all vital donor data in Salesforce.
- Track progress towards revenue goals and prepare regular reports, as needed.
- Analyze donor and giving data to develop well-founded strategies for renewals and increases.
Related Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of donor events, including goals, themes, and content (for cultivation-specific and fundraising-focused events).
- Coordinate and deploy colleagues on FWF’s staff to support fundraising efforts, appropriate to their roles, and foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required
- Minimum 2 years of experience preferred working in nonprofit development, fundraising, or institutional advancement
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a small team environment
- Experience using Salesforce or a comparable CRM platform preferred
