Founded in 1993, National Harm Reduction Coalition (NHRC) is a leading advocacy and capacity-building organization dedicated to promoting the health and dignity of individuals and communities affected by drug use and structural violence. Our national organization is committed to advancing harm reduction policy and practice through our comprehensive programs. As a national organization we advance harm reduction policy and practice through six core programs:
⦁ Harm reduction policy, community mobilization, and advocacy
⦁ Harm reduction resources include in-person and virtual training, self-paced online learning modules, publications, and maps to locate syringe services and naloxone programs
⦁ National and regional convenings
⦁ Fiscal sponsorship
⦁ Technical assistance on overdose prevention education, hepatitis C prevention and treatment, syringe access expansion, linkages to MOUD (Medications for Opioid Use Disorder) treatment, and the U.S. opioid overdose crisis

Job Description
Summary/objective
The Housing & Shelter Capacity Building Coordinator will provide Capacity Building Services (CBS), virtual and in person training, and technical assistance for the Overdose Prevention and Harm Reduction Education in Shelters and Housing (O-PHRESH), an initiative in partnership with San Francisco’s Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (HSH). The Housing & Shelter Capacity Building Coordinator will assist with start-up planning activities and project development of the Harm Reduction in Housing training series and will develop training curriculum and materials that stay responsive to the needs of frontline housing and shelter service providers, community-based organizations, and the community they serve in San Francisco.
In addition, the Housing and Shelter Capacity Building Coordinator will work alongside the Capacity Building & Training Manager to support the National Harm Reduction Coalition’s San Francisco programs which include the Drug Overdose Prevention & Education Project (DOPE), and the Harm Reduction Training Institute (HRTI) to provide online training and technical assistance to programs.
The ideal candidate is an individual who deeply enjoys learning, teaching, facilitating group
discussions, and providing political education about harm reduction, stigma, overdose prevention, and caring for people who use drugs. NHRC prioritizes hiring people with lived experience with drug use, sex work, and/or incarceration, and/or are from the communities we serve.

Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer monitor/screen; extensive reading.
