    The Melrose Alliance Against Violence, Inc. (MAAV) is a community-based violence prevention organization founded in 1995. MAAV's mission is to offer comprehensive programs that aim to break the cycle of relational violence through child & youth prevention programs, survivor support services, and community awareness activities that promote healthy relationships.

    We seek a dynamic, growth-oriented leader for the full-time position of Executive Director, overseeing 4 part-time staff members and managing a budget of $300,000. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape MAAV's next chapter of growth during our 30th anniversary year and beyond. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will lead organizational expansion while maintaining our strong community presence.

    Principal Responsibilities:

    Leadership & Strategic Development:

    • Provide visionary leadership with a collaborative management style that empowers staff and builds strong working relationships
    • Engage in strategic planning initiatives to expand MAAV's impact and reach in the community
    • Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop and implement long-term organizational growth strategies
    • Foster innovative approaches to programming while maintaining our core mission focus

    Community Relations & Public Presence:

    • Serve as MAAV's primary public spokesperson with strong presentation and communication skills
    • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with schools, businesses, government entities, and community organizations
    • Lead community outreach efforts to expand MAAV's visibility and impact
    • Represent MAAV at public events, media interviews, and community forums

    Fundraising & Development:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies including grants, individual donors, and corporate partnerships
    • Write and manage grants to support program expansion and sustainability
    • Build relationships with individual donors and create systems for donor stewardship
    • Work with board committees to plan and execute fundraising events
    • Expand corporate sponsorship programs and maintain business partnerships

    Program & Staff Management:

    • Oversee program development and expansion of MAAV's violence prevention and survivor support services
    • Hire, train, and supervise staff with a focus on professional development and team building
    • Manage organizational finances including budget development, oversight, and reporting
    • Ensure compliance with grant requirements and maintain proper financial controls

    Direct Service & Programming:

    • Maintain knowledge of violence prevention best practices and ensure high-quality implementation
    • Provide direct services, including assessment and resource/referral services for survivors
    • Oversee school-based prevention programs, including elementary and middle school education, middle school group mentoring and high school Student Action Board
    • Coordinate several annual community awareness events, including our signature Annual Walk & Candlelight Vigil

    Qualifications:

    Essential Requirements:

    • Proven nonprofit management and organizational leadership experience
    • Strong fundraising skills, including grant writing, donor development, and event planning
    • Strategic planning and organizational growth experience - ability to lead expansion initiatives
    • Excellent collaborative leadership skills with prior experience managing and motivating teams
    • Outstanding public speaking and communication abilities
    • Community outreach and partnership development experience
    • Bachelor's degree

    Highly Preferred:

    • Executive Director or senior leadership experience in nonprofit organizations
    • Experience leading organizational change or expanding nonprofit services
    • Demonstrated success in capacity building and program development
    • Experience in domestic violence prevention, trauma services, or related social services
    • Knowledge of prevention programming and evidence-based practices
    • Master's degree preferred

    Additional Valued Qualifications:

    • Clinical licensure (LCSW/LICSW/LCMH)
    • Experience with coalition building and collaborative initiatives
    • Local community knowledge and existing relationships
    • Cultural competence and commitment to inclusive practices
    • Technology proficiency including CRM systems, social media, and digital marketing
