    Descrição

    Job Title: Deputy Communications Director

    Location: Washington, D.C (Hybrid Eligible)

Reports to: Vice President of Communications

    Status: Full-time

    Position Summary

Voto Latino is seeking a Deputy Communications Director to help support the planning and execution of the organization’s internal and external communications. The Deputy Communications Director will work closely with the VP of Communications and cross-functional teams to amplify the organization's voice across earned media, rapid response moments and serve as an on-the-record spokesperson. This mid-level role is ideal for a sharp, politically attuned communicator with experience in social content development, media relations, and strategic message rollouts—including for polling and focus group releases. The ideal candidate brings campaign, Hill, or political advocacy experience; strong media relationships; and a creative eye for translating key messages into compelling content across both traditional and digital platforms.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Message Development & Content Strategy

    • Translate policy, political trends, and polling into clear, persuasive messaging tailored for key audiences including press, partners, and the public.
    • Support the development of message guidance and toolkits for internal teams and coalition partners.
    • Draft, refine, and manage high-quality press materials, talking points, op-eds, video scripts, ad copy, and digital content across channels.

    Cross-Platform Alignment

    • Collaborate with digital and creative teams to align storytelling with strategic goals, especially around mobilization, advocacy, and accountability efforts.
    • Ensure communications messaging is consistent across email, Substack, social, and paid media campaigns.

    Campaign Planning & Execution

    • Lead the day-to-day execution of multi-channel campaigns—from kickoff to launch—coordinating across comms, organizing, research, and partnerships teams.
    • Write and produce campaign toolkits, messaging memos, and rollout plans.
    • Track and assess communications impact and recommend adjustments in real time.
    • Interpret public opinion research and focus groups into actionable comms insights.
    • Draft topline memos and internal briefings that guide messaging decisions across departments.

    Narrative Shaping & Accountability

    • Help shape long-term narrative strategies to hold elected officials accountable, spotlight civil rights abuses, and advance policy solutions.
    • Monitor political developments, misinformation trends, and media coverage relevant to Voto Latino’s mission.

Media Relations & Earned Media Strategy

    • Support rapid response communications by drafting statements, op-eds, and briefing materials under tight deadlines.
    • Pitch and place stories with national, regional, and Spanish-language press to elevate organizational priorities and campaigns.
    • Maintain and grow relationships with reporters, producers, and editorial boards.
    • Serve as spokesperson for the organization.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Political Science, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
    • 4–6 years of relevant experience in political communications, campaigns, Capitol Hill, or advocacy organizations
    • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills — with the ability to distill complex topics into clear, engaging, and action-oriented messages
    • Proven success in developing and executing digital communications strategies across platforms such as Substack, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and email
    • Demonstrated success in pitching to media and securing coverage in national and regional outlets
    • Experience managing communications strategy for polling, research releases, or public opinion work
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, mission-focused environment
    • Familiarity with digital tools such as Mailchimp, Canva, and CMS/email platforms
    • Spanish proficiency is a plus, but not required

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary Range: $75,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience.
    • Comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, vision, paid time off, and 401(k)
    • Opportunities for professional development and growth within a national organization
