    About the Bronx & Brooklyn Energy Hub

    Solar One has partnered with the Association for Energy Affordability (AEA) and the Center for New York City Neighborhoods (CNYC) to implement the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) Bronx & Brooklyn Energy Hub (BBEH). These hubs are part of a larger State-wide effort to connect New Yorkers to the Clean Energy Economy.

    The Bronx & Brooklyn Energy Hub connects New Yorkers, including renters, homeowners, workforce training seekers, and building owners, to clean energy opportunities and resources. Solar One’s role in the BBEH will be to support equitable workforce development in NYC, ensuring more New Yorkers have access to jobs and training in the growing clean energy industry.     Job Summary

    Solar One is searching for a Workforce Development Advisor to lead the Clean Energy Workforce segment on behalf of the BBEH. The position is hybrid, with a combination of remote and in-office work, plus on-site events. Occasional weekend and evening work will be required for job fairs and outreach events. This position will deliver information and provide education in a wide variety of settings, including, but not limited to: providing educational tables/booths at community events; presenting before large audiences; making one-on-one phone calls; following up with leads/clients to provide additional information; assisting leads/clients with navigating clean energy workforce programs available to them.

    Main job responsibilities include:

    • Become a subject matter expert of the Green and Clean Energy workforce development industry landscape, the various roles, technologies, and employment opportunities within.
    • Connect residents of the Bronx and Brooklyn via phone or email to services, including clean energy job training, job fairs, and job opportunities. Conduct due diligence to ensure residents needs have been met.
    • Generate clients for the Bronx & Brooklyn Energy Hub by researching and connecting with organizations that host community events around workforce development opportunities. Attend 1-2 community events per month to promote the BBEH and its services.
    • Monitor Salesforce for incoming clients generated through outreach to ensure annual goals are met. Manage volume and response rate.
    • Assist with the planning and implementation of two career events a year, one in the Bronx and one in Brooklyn.
    • Facilitate and lead monthly BBEH Workforce team planning meetings with partners from multiple organizations, including Solar One, The Center for NYC Neighborhoods, The HOPE Program, and Association for Energy Affordability.
    • Act as the point-of-contact on behalf of the BBEH on all workforce segment-related statewide meetings and communications, attend all related meetings, monitor the Teams channel, and provide feedback.
    • Supervise the outreach coordinator at a subcontracted organization to ensure they are meeting the target number of leads and opportunities as outlined by of the BBEH.
    • Collaborate with BBEH Project Lead and the CNYCN Marketing teams to complete the Pathways to Clean Energy Careers Community Campaign, a media campaign that will showcase alumni of clean energy workforce programs with the goal of increasing engagement with the BBEH, launching in summer 2026
    • Represent the Workforce Development segment internally at Solar One
    • Collaborate with external BBEH partners to identify and build new partnerships that support the Workforce Development segment

    Qualifications

    • 1-3 years of experience working in the workforce development sector
      • Strong preference for experience in the clean energy sector
    • 1+ year experience building and managing relationships with external stakeholders, especially those with community members in historically marginalized communities in New York City.
    • Experience with direct outreach and engagement with community members, especially those in historically marginalized communities
    • Knowledge of the New York City geographical landscape and the ability to navigate the city using public transportation. Must be able to carry 30 pounds of supplies.
    • Fluent/conversational in more than one language, specifically Spanish, is preferred but not required. Additional preferred languages are:
      • Chinese (Mandarin)
      • Arabic
      • French Creole
      • Russian

    Skills

    Successful candidates for this role should be able to demonstrate the following:

    • A people person, able to approach and interact with strangers
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, clear written and verbal communication, and an ability to facilitate generative discussions
    • Basic Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and G Suite
    • Experience with a Customer Relationship Management platform, like Salesforce
    • Proactive, sees opportunities for new partnerships and programmatic change, and initiates conversations to enact these changes
    • Strong time management skills and an ability to work autonomously to meet deliverables and deadlines
    • Adaptable to changing priorities
    • Keen on learning, open to feedback, and interested in personal growth
    • Enthusiastic about the mission of BBEH, the importance of workforce development, and/or the clean energy economy.

    Pay and Benefits

    This position is Full Time / Exempt

    Pay starting at $67,000-$72,000 per year based on experience
