    The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) is the only statewide environmental organization in New York that fights for clean water, clean air, renewable energy, and open space through advocacy and politics. We’re nonpartisan, pragmatic, and effective with a proven track record of success. Along with our sister organizations, the NYLCV Education Fund, NYLCV Victory Fund, and NYLCV Gives Green, we educate the public about a broad range of important issues and elect candidates that will champion our priorities of climate action and environmental protections.

    Position Summary

    The Development & Events Coordinator will provide key support to the Development Department in achieving its annual fundraising plan. This person will report to the Senior Director of Development and will work closely with the Development Coordinator, Chief of Staff and President.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities

    Events

    • Manage the organization’s fundraising events across the state, including the annual Gala
    • Track sponsor lists, pledges and contributions as well as strategizing pathways to achieve event fundraising goals
    • Coordinate with event speakers and guests
    • Coordinate with event venues and external vendors on menu, AV needs and additional logistics
    • Draft and manage invitations and event promotional materials, including sponsor listings and benefits
    • Manage the day-of event logistics and operations including delegating tasks
    • Supporting the Development Coordinator at monthly Corporate Partners breakfasts

    Donor Communications

    • Coordinate an annual appeal and stewardship calendar
    • Work with the Development Coordinator and Communications Team to ensure donor acknowledgement plan is implemented effectively and efficiently
    • Develop donor cultivation strategies for donor prospects and draft donor correspondence
    • Support the team’s fundraising appeals and digital fundraising campaigns, including drafting emails and letters, and working with the Communications Department to brainstorm and execute creative ways of engaging our donors
    • Work with the programs, policy and politics departments to coordinate briefings and donor stewardship activities
    • Help identify donor prospects through research and creating donor profiles as needed
    • Occasionally attend donor meetings with senior staff including the President
    • Help keep the development team on track by taking notes in meetings and managing up when necessary

    Emerging Leaders Program

    • Coordinate NYLCV’s young professionals program, Emerging Leaders, including recruiting new members and engaging the steering committee
    • Maintain up to date records on the program, create promotional material and develop a plan for the program’s growth and sustainability
    • Coordinate at least two fundraising events annually

    Administration

    • Work with the Development Coordinator on the yearly audit
    • Maintain organized and updated records and documents in the shared drive
    • Support the Development Coordinator with twice yearly board engagement reports
    • Review and provide feedback on weekly revenue report
    • Other administrative tasks as needed

    Qualifications

    • 1+ years of event management experience is required
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred
    • Experience in non-profit preferred
    • Strong writing and research skills
    • Attention to detail is a must
    • Team player with a demonstrated ability to take initiative
    • Ability to multitask and conduct multiple projects simultaneously
    • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with board members and donors of different backgrounds
    • Experience or interest in fundraising is a plus
    • General interest in climate change, open spaces, transportation, public health, social and environmental justice is a plus

    Position Details

    Primary Work Location: This position is based out of NYLCV’s headquarters located at 30 Broad Street 30th Floor New York, NY 10004. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days per week in-office.

    Travel: This position will require travel occasionally to periodic events and programs throughout New York City and elsewhere in New York State.

    Schedule: This is a regular, full-time position. The core hours of work are Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with occasional morning and evening hours required.

    Compensation: The salary range is $60,000-$70,000 depending on experience
